However, encouraging only "aesthetically pleasing" women does a disservice to many who are far more knowledgeable and engaging. Frankly, Kypreos and Friedman are no beauties, so not sure what's so wonderful about them...or actually any of the peeps on the panel from that perspective. I get that networks like that approach, but we don't need to encourage it. (I have grown daughters....and I want them to have a fair shot at anything they want to do.)
It was not meant as encouragement, only as a prediction.
Even women they employ with legit athletic backgrounds, such as Cassie Campbell-Pascal are conventionally attractive.
Am I the only one who realizes this has zero effect on me? I don't watch sportsnet connected or pre-game or intermissions of any hockey games I have time to watch.

Couple more steps and it should make watching intermission possible again. First step is canning Ron MacLean and his know it all act, then shoot that Hometown Hockey schtick into the sun.

Are they just going to run clips from 80s and 90s hockey like they do at the dome during extended breaks in play?
Holy crap!!!! So I had seen the classic clip of Sharkie hanging from the roof of the building... but I’ve never seen the events that followed. (@ 3:50)
1: they put a gymnastics mat on the ice like that will help him survive a 40’ fall.
2: someone is standing on the beam pulling him up!!!!!! Just standing on the beam, unrestrained at the top of the building! Exerting force. Holy crap.

Lets be honest though. There's generally a common theme between all the female sports anchors and analysts. 90% of them are, shall we say, aesthetically pleasing to the male audience. Sports networks understand their core audience, so they cater to them. That's the reality.
Just because we're being honest doesn't mean we should accept the status quo. I like a hot chick as much as the next guy, but I'd prefer a competent woman regardless of how she looks.

DUDE!
My thoughts exactly.
What the holy hell.

Thought Kypreos was blunt and honest. Unlike Friedman or Hrudey, I felt like Kypreos was comfortable calling out players or management and couldn't care less what they thought about it. I enjoyed that on the HNIC panel. He will be missed.
Hope he lands with TSN.

McLean too? Good riddance. Whenever he spoke, my first thought was: completely and thoroughly clueless. But then I would remember that he was once a GM. Then I would think: how can a former GM be this completely and thoroughly clueless - every single time he opens his mouth?
The process always left me a bit uncomfortable because I know that anyone who became a GM can't be that clueless. But he IS. Hated seeing his face for that reason.

Who's accepting status quo? I'm just commenting on a poster's prediction, and saying I wouldn't be surprised if that poster's prediction comes true. Whether it's right or fair is a completely different topic. I'm just pointing out that sports networks different criteria for a female broadcaster vs. a male broadcaster.
These aren't just token layoffs as these guys were major parts of RSN's weekly NHL broadcasts. Is there some sort of minimum standard they have to uphold in their NHL contract in regards to presentation?
