Great signing, can't wait to see him in the net this coming season. Sounds like he's ready to rock.

If he continues to get us 27 wins while putting up around a 2.5 GAA and .915 Sv% I think that's a hell of a steal for $2.75 million. What's not to like?

Bobrovsky is being paid $10 million this year to likely put up similar numbers. There's real value in this contract.

Treliving saved approx 500k cap savings on the total contract.

It's all a matter of reference... when comparing this to Koskinen - it's a steal.... but in reality, Edmonton over-paid and we got a good fair deal.

Koskinen (age 31)
Games: 59
Starts: 55
Wins: 27
Losses: 22
OT Losses: 6
Saves: 1,669
Goals Against: 161
GAA: 3.02
Saves: 1,508
Save %: 0.904
Shut outs: 4
Minutes: 3,200

RITTICH (age 26)
Games: 67
Starts: 58
Wins: 35
Losses: 15
OT Losses: 8
Saves: 1,750
Goals Against: 159
GAA: 2.70
Save %: 0.909
Shut outs: 1
Minutes: 3,532

I thought BSD was going to get a bit more - happy with this signing

Hopefully we can trade Brodie - love the guy but I don't want dead cap space from buying out a perfectly serviceable 29 y/o Stone

Considering how many goalies we've drafted... it's funny to see that both members of our current tandem are undrafted - I think we should stop drafting goalies in at least the first three rounds - I like the Wolf pick, I really do, I think that is one that could pay off.

Hopefully we can trade Stone... would not that be the best scenario here, we trade him for no returning salary, just prospects or picks (or future considerations even). Hopefully that's enough to get Tkachuk signed and then we can wait to trade Brodie when we can get the maximum return from him (a desperate team that has lost a defenseman or more through injuries during the season).

You're right trading Stone is best case scenario - just doesn't seem to be a likely scenario

You can buy a lot of Steak Dinners with $2.75M.

Yeah, that glove-hand is abysmal. That might fly in the KHL where shooters are twice as far away, but its nothing but an enormous target in the NHL.

He would be serviceable bottom pairing guy on most teams, he’s just been pushed out by our youth. Valimaki, Andersson and probably even Kylington have leapfrogged him on the depth chart. But what team will want to acquire a 3.5 million dollar bottom pair guy without sending salary back?

This is a great signing.

Once again Eric Francis nails this one and has such a great pulse on the team. Just yesterday afternoon he predicted on the fan960 this would go to arbitration.

A solid tandem for 5.5M total? This is likely the best I have felt about our goaltending situation before a season since Kipper left.

The dollar amount seems reasonable. Not a discount, but exactly market value.
