Has anyone gone down to check the new store out? They posted some photos on Twitter...

It looks smaller than the North Hill store.

I don't like the CGY font. Doesn't fit with the font of "Team Store".

Looks taken straight from the scratched western third jerseys.

I agree. Just have it "Team Store"

It's pretty small. They have a decent selection of sweaters, though. Dillon Dube and Mark Jankowski both available

Interesting that it's the retro white C they go with for the store sign.

This would have been a great time to introduce the heritage (and future full-time road jersey) retro whites.

We should be seeing them soon. For the previous Heritage Classics that Calgary and Winnipeg were in, the jerseys were unveiled during the first week of August.

Yeah, I think this confirms that the white C is going to be the primary at some point.

Funny that a replacement sign was out of the question for them

Or pay someone to come up with something to improve what reads like it’s the working name of the project.

The organization has been pushing the white C with red background since the Iginla retirement. Most branding has this scheme now.

As for the store, looks fine by me. Brighter and more welcoming than the North Hill location. Also don't mind the name, the CSEC is more than the Flames since swallowing up the Hitmen, Stamps, Roughnecks, etc. Makes sense to have the name reflect that.

Becuase is a catchier, more complicated name going to drive more traffic and/or the new name going to prevent people from shopping there?

The CGY is certainly based off those hats and t's from last year, and the fact that outside of Cavalry, the Flames now have all the city's pro sports properties, which wasn't the case in the late 80s when someone came up with Flames Fanattic.

Most pro teams around North America keep it simple, calling it the team store or pro shop or clear variation of that.

Elliot Friedman would've named it the CAL Store.

Well yes, this is the whole reason why Branding exists. A catchier name may not be important to an already captive audience, but it may help to increase brand awareness so you can expand that audience.

I thought the Fanattic was a fine name...and unless there was some legal issue, the name change seems like an odd move.

I've actually been to the store last Thursday. Few thoughts:
* Spoke to the "manager" there. Name change occurred to avoid lawsuit with Fanatics. Yup, that came straight out of his mouth. FanAttic was catchier, though.
* Southcentre store replaced YYC Airport store.
* To be clear - CGY hats and jackets were sold in collaboration w/ famous Flames fan/actor Jarod Joseph. Sold out obviously. Not to mention CGY's has always been the abbreviation for our sports teams when we're on TV or on sports sites (ex. HockeyDB). That inspired CSEC to rename FanAttic as CGY Team Store.

Late to the party but my favorite Southcenter memory from childhood was YogenFruz, wish we had those in the states!
Oh and the laser tag thing you guys were talking about too

I don't understand why they don't unveil the Heritage jerseys along with the new opening and rebranding. Give people a reason to flood in through your doors and look at other merch while they're checking out the new jersey.

Giving your shops plain white walls and a less visually appealing sign/logo while offering nothing new doesn't do much for you. People will just pull a grandpa Simpson coming in the door.
