Default Flames @ Islanders 5:00pm (SNW)

It’s crazy how young the flames D is gonna be when they bring up Valimaki. 4 guys who are 22 or under. Pretty damn cool

I forget that Hanifin is actually younger than Andersson and Hanifin has already played 300 games in the league

Brodie missed game on injury, maybe that is the reason for less icetime or the mistakes with puck.

I just love the fact that we have warriors like Gio and Hamonic grooming these young dmen. They are exactly what you want in the system to show these kids how to be a pro in the NHL. The future is definitely bright on the back end.

I think a guy like Neal can be this guy as well, but he is just in a funk. There is no way we buy him out this off season, he could have a bounce back season next year. When he comes back from injury, I really hope to see a rejuvenated player.

As for tonight, I think we will see some emotion and fireworks after last weeks tilt. Should be a good one tonight. That said, Flames win this one and continue the role 6-4 with an empty netter. Tkachuk, Backs, Gio, Monahan (x2) and Bennett score tonight.

GFG!

They can try it, but Kylington, Brodie, Hanifin, Giordano, and Hamonic are tough to get past when they stand up at the blue line and play well. The only weak point is Andersson and I think he'll be sufficiently sheltered. and Prout.

edit
With Kylington out I'm a bit nervous.

I just can't help but feel that Neal shooting 4.1% is completely unsustainable.

Andersson>Brodie defensively.

What about him being a complete non factor on the ice aside from his shooting percentage?

I agree and disagree with you. His skating is just bizarre and his positioning confuses me too. But he's 7th on the team in shots and has the 4th-worst PDO among regulars. He's doing poorly but he should be doing at least somewhat better. I'm willing to give him time as long as the team does well.

Maybe in his own zone. But Andersson is vulnerable to getting got caught up ice when the other team transitions. I'm betting Gio skates a lot more in a game when he's paired with Andersson than Brodie, which should be taken into account when looking at partners going forward.

Giordano also doesn't seem to be nearly as effective offensively through the neutral zone and joining the rush with Andersson for the same reasons you outlined above.

First game after the trade deadline. Could go two ways: players that were worried about being traded, are not worried anymore and their play intensity level could be low today. Or, they could be uplifted by the show of trust in them by the management and their play level goes up. I do worry about the former scenario, but hope for the latter.

Go Flames!

Andrew Ladd and Thomas Hickey will both be in the lineup for the Islanders tonight. Both players have been out since 2018 -- November and December, respectively.

Giordano and Brodie have been teammates since 2011, have played over 250 games as a pair in four of the last six seasons. Let's save the concrete opinions until Gio and Andersson play more than two games together.

It wasn't that long ago some were writing Rasmus Andersson off completely due to his skating. Maybe give them a little time to come together as a duo.

I think it would be hilarious if Peters had been lying and started Rittich tonight now that the Isles have spent all their practice and video time preparing for Smith.

It would be very satisfying to beat a division leader soundly twice in a week, once in their own barn too. Hope the flames can refocus with the trade deadline over and deliver a good effort
