SJ is going all in, it seems with all moves they have made they won't have a 1st or 2nd round pick for a number of years.

They have to go for it. The end is nigh in SJ.

Ya, and they’re not in as good of shape as the flames are in terms of young assets. I still think Treliving is gonna land Stone.

Perhaps just a first with no conditions?
Not having the 2019 second round pick is definitely going to come into play into any Flames negotiations.
I have this feeling we’re never drafting in the second round again.

Especially if they end up re-signing Karlsson and/or Nyquist. They've basically spent every scrap of their ammunition for the foreseeable future and are desperately clinging to a run on the backs of a bunch of 30-somethings.
Their decline into irrelevance is coming soon. It will be painful, and it will be long.

The only problem is most players love playing in SJ so they'll never have to go full rebuild and build through the draft. They'll continue signing free agents to fill their holes, on below market deals most other teams don't have a hope of getting done.

with these returns for Zuccarello and Nyquist it seems to make sense that Calgary is trying to do something bigger... we shall see

I don't see either as much of an upgrade on the current roster, so yeah, either step up for something better, or stand down.

Players loved playing in Chicago, NY, Anaheim, and LA too, until father time and the salry cap caught up with them. Players loved playing in Detroit and Pittsburgh before that. The common theme of all of those teams was that eventually they had to start paying for all of their talent and couldn't rely on pulling star players out of their butts with late-round picks forever. And those teams didn't go nearly as scorched-earth with their picks and prospects as the Sharks are doing, either.
The Sharks are going to have to figure out what to do with Pavelski, Thornton, Karlsson, and Nyquist this summer, to name a few. And some of those re-signings come with more picks being sent out the door. Mark my words: the San Jose Sharks are a house of cards.

Really? What free agent bargains are those that are littering the SJ lineup?

I'm guessing you actually mean they're not worth what it would've taken to get Nyqvist or Zuccarello? Cause you'd need to have a wildly inflated view of guys like Mangiapane, Jankowski, Frolik, Czarnik, and Hathaway if you don't think they would be an upgrade over any of them.

Hopefully this means one less bidder for Stone.

The Sharks never had the assets to take a run at Stone.

The Sharks weren't going to be in on Stone anyway. They don't have their next two first round picks (and have conditionally traded their 2021 first).
