Well yes, but odd comment to make with not much time or ability to change the situation for the Flyers to make up their trade minds.

Flyers have one period hockey to play before they make that decision. After this period they are going to be 9 or at best 7 points behind Carolina for the last spot, with equal number of games and two other teams to leap frog and no games left to make up ground before the deadline.

A loss tonight and a Rangers win tomorrow would have 3 teams between them and the playoffs. Is the decision really based on if they are 7 or 9 points back? Because those are the only options left tonight.

Get it done.
Well, cost is everything of course. But I'm not really fussed about picking up a guy cause he slots in ahead of fourth line guys.

I don't think defensively he can fit in on the second line. I like the third line at the moment. I guess if zneal is out for a long time, maybe then. But not for much of a price.

Aside from the game they will play I guess the other teams winning or losing would tell them something.

Simmonds still fights?

not sure about that...

very much a 'meh' trade imo... more than willing to go to battle with the players that got the Flames into second rather than pay for Simmonds...

might do a 2nd or a 3rd + B prospect but that's about it...

Watch the whole clip it shows the prior game incident

Giroux gets a cheapshot from Mantha, Simmonds answers next get. Didn't take a silly penalty. Sends a strong message

And maybe want to consider any moves (sell or buy) the other bubble teams might do. For example do the Sabres or Pens make a big splash? Does Carolina for some reason move Ferland for picks?

the moves the Blue Jackets made must be discouraging.

Yes, the Rangers game tomorrow. That’s the only other relevant team above them that plays tomorrow.

There is of course the strong likelihood that the Flyers weren’t going to tip their hand to anyone that Friedman gets his info from, or move anyone, before their national outdoor game, but the decision to trade Simmonds or hold on to him has been made already, or it still depends on the offers. It doesn’t depend on thier back and forth thoughts of making the playoffs here at the 11:45h.

The Flyers have to know for at least a week, if they are going to go for it or hold back.

^^^I stand corrected... thought he had moved past that as an established player.

Still wouldn't be interested in him unless its in line with the prices i mentioned...

will be interesting to see what BT does.

He's kind of like another Bennett which we could use, I'd like the add tbh/

Bennett-Backlund-Simmonds would be a really pesky line. All three play with a chip on their shoulder

I hope he comes here. I feel like a 2nd and a decent prospect gets it done. I also predict every person in here saying “no thanks” eats a lot of crow come playoff time.

Aside from a potential Stone deal, if you also get Simmonds as a low cost, purely rental player, I see no harm whatsoever.

I feel hes worth about what zucarrelo was so

2nd 3rd or 2nd and a okayish prospect would make sense

2019's Chris Simon. Agree with killer carlson's analysis - he brings an aspect the team that they previously had to bring Peluso in to address

Do it if it doesn't cost a 1st or roster player.

Blech. Would be an awful addition. This year's Martin Hanzal, I think.

I wouldn't mind Simmonds either. It's like car shopping. Ooh, look a nicy shiny sports car! I want that! Wait, it's how much? How about that used Ram 1500? Okay, I'll take that. It'll get the job done.

I disagree. Simmonds would bring a much needed physical edge and toughness to our team, which is something we need to survive a mean playoff series against SJ (E. Kane), VGS (Reaves), or WPG (Byfuglien).

He's been a PP beast too in his career.
