So, what does that mean for Stone? A bargain deal in the range of $9.5 m x 6 in another market?

That is still WAY too much money to spend on this player. And that is to say nothing for the assets surrendered to acquire him.

That’s interesting. I like the thought of a reunion between Puljujarvi and Laine.

I am not a fan of Douchane. The cost of acquisition would not look good on the Flames.

If the CBJ want to trade Wennberg because of his contract and his down year and they are not able to do it through a Panarin trade, I’d like the Flames to try for him. He’s also a potential buy low candidate and young.

That’s a big offer from Ottawa. I wonder if Stone resigns or if he wants more term. I wonder if it scares teams off if he doesn’t take that offer. It suggests he wants a lot. However, I think he’s an incredible player and I think teams will still be interested.

I love the Nemeth idea for a depth defenceman. That would be great.

Prefer Stone because oh his size which the Flames lack.
Stone and a mean Dman would be on my shopping list.

I hope the Preds, Sharks and Jets go hard after Stone, Duchene and Dzingle. And then we come out with either Nyquist or Johansson to fill the 2nd line RW spot, and Krownwall on the back end.

I really really do not want any of those teams to get any of those players.

Anyone know what the cap hit we can take on at the deadline is including the amount of the roster spot they would take, say Lazar's 950k or Mangiapane's 705k being sent down to make room for the new player? Or both if Neal isn't out long.

How about if Neal were to go on LTIR until the end of the regular season?

I don't feel like the cost of the "big fish" will be worth it in the long run. It's very hard for top players to come to a team 60 games into a season and make a huge impact.

I forgot about him! I'd add him in with Nyquist and Johansson.

Flames could also put Stone on LTIR to make room if needed.

Hayes is still my first choice out of all the rumored players, but Zuccarello would be great to.

I would prefer the Ottawa players and honestly would give up the same package for Duchene or Stone but they would have to be long term pieces and not rentals.

We must have entered the Duchene mix recently for Friedman to make that statement. Doesn’t mean we get the player obviously. He had Vancouver as the stealth team for Hanifin in his 31 thoughts in the weeks leading up to the draft. We were not even mentioned until the days leading up to the draft and LeBrun mentioning the big Hamilton for Lindholm-Hanifin rumor.

Like many others here I would be fine with Zuccarello, Hayes, Nyquist etc (as long as we are not spending the 1st round pick/young D/Dube. For me right now there are no real scenarios where I would part with one of Valimaki/Kylington/Andersson. It would have to be a signed Duchene/Stone for me to part with the 1st and Dube.

Zuccarello/Hayes/Nyquist/Johansson/Burakovsky/Dzingel/Henrique/Hoffman . . . . These are the names I think we should be gunning for.

Seems like Panarin/Duchene/Stone are going to cost a fortune I'm not sure it's worth giving up for a rental. Even signed, these guys are going to cost money we really need for Tkachuk.

My three reservations on Duchene are not about locker room dynamics:

- Left hand shot. We already have too many as is. If Lindholm or Ryan get hurt our lack of right shot depth still gets exposed on the PP. All lefty look PPs tend to fail even with a ton of talent.
- Contract - he's 28 and probably expected 7-8 years of term with a large cap hit and I can't see us doing a rental given cost of acquisition
- Two-way play - he's always struck me as a pretty weak defensively. I want us to be a team that holds opponents to 2 or fewer goals. It starts at the center position un my opinion.

If the Flames were to acquire Duchene, it would definitely be with the idea of keeping him. Flames management is not interested in rentals, rather guys who can be apart of a core for a long time to come.

If we can send Neal/Frolik, Stone (which would help his brother re sign), and then a prospect (Dube?) and a draft pick (2nd?), it would be a steal. I think we’d need to give a 1st which I’m really weary of doing

Trading Michael away will help get Mark here?
