Kiprusoff was fairly hyped for a couple of seasons by Sharks fans, but then the season he was traded, he started off terrible. But I do recall some people believed he could be a great goalie.

I went to his second game vs the Canucks last year and I’ve been a big believer since!! Such a calm goalie, doesn’t overreact and is very technically sound. Big Save Dave earned this nickname!

Best Flames' goalie since...well, pre-injury Smith last season. Except Smith is old and Rittich is just entering his prime. He's the age most goalies start to come into their own. Considering how awesome it's been to see our young core grow up and mature, it's pretty cool to add Rittich to the mix.

I'm cautiously optimistic he's the final piece of the rebuild puzzle. Still early IMO to anoint him the saviour. Goalies are just so random and fluctuate year to year. True #1 goalies know how to show up season after season. It's so rare for a team to not have to worry about goaltending for years at a time. Rittich doesn't have that track record yet. But he's on the right path, and that's really all you can ask of a 2nd year NHL goaltender.

Saw this on Reddit, he is just the best. I’m not sure if this was from today or not.

I saw Big Save Dave today in Lululemon at Chinook. I nodded to him, he nodded to me. Pretty much confirming that he can start every game for the rest of the season and 16 straight in the playoffs.

That David Rittich is one hell of a goalie.

This is the funniest thing. Elephant in the room - is Smith just not working with Sigalet?

You are right. This is conclusive like when the gloves didn’t fit OJ

Well Smith's glove is slow and it seems like it doesn't fit so....

If the glove don't fit, you gotta acquit!

I suppose there's some logic in supposing that a very experienced goalie wouldn't take much instruction from a goalie coach, especially one the age of Sigalet. But it's pure speculation all right, and not supported by the lack of success of every goalie not named Rittich.

Default re Signing Czech goalies

all well and good mr BSD.
how many fantastic games did Turek play for flames before his big 4 year term contract was signed and he never played the same again.
I vote we wait at least more games than whatever that was... I read it was 17 games in 2001. How many fantastic games has BSD had now in a row ?

Kristen Anderson had a good story on BSD with some good quips from Peters.

https://calgarysun.com/sports/hockey...es-to-have-fun

Quote:
He’ll likely get a chance for the foreseeable future, as the Flames try to gain ground in the Pacific Division standings. With a 23-12-3 record, they’re two points ahead of the San Jose Sharks (20-12-7) for the division lead and still a point behind the Jets (24-11-2) for the Western Conference lead.
But as for Rittich’s roller skate guards, post-smooches, and other hilarious idiosyncrasies, Peters chuckles.
“I try not to notice a lot of things Dave does,” he said with a grin. “I usually find out the next day when someone sends me something on an Instagram or a Tweet.
“But he’s got some personality to him, and good for him.”

Is there any photos or video of BSD on the roller skate guards?

I can't remember the last weak goal "Frickin Rittich" gave up.

It's love!
