Smith should have stopped that. But the others didn't cover themselves in glory there either, on the whole shift.

Jesus Christ. Mike Smith is straight garbage in the net. Trade for a serviceable backup, roll with Rittich, and shoot Smith off into the sun. So tired of this narrative.

So many pucks beat Smith in that weird spot under his arm. Probably not a new theory, but I gotta think that’s a failure to adjust to smaller gear.

Pick up a waiver wire goalie, would be an uprgrade over smith. ####ing pathetic. It’s unreal the goals he’s let in this year, flames management has to realize he’s done. He just looks awful even when makes the saves.

Treliving said he is comfortable with both goalies on TSN, but I don't think he is. At least he shouldn't.

They lost the puck way up in the air on a weird play. It happens. The end result was a low percentage shot from the goal line. The fault is completely on Smith and is yet another unacceptable goal for an NHL goaltender to be allowing.
Why he is starting with the Christmas break upcoming and Rittich rolling is beyond me. The leash the Flames are giving an aging goalie who's been the definition of average for basically his entire career is outrageous.

I hope Smith gets the Bronx cheer again tonight. Had to take a game off last time he was so upset, maybe a second time would send him into retirement.

The real question is why the flames keep playing him at home. He was terrible at home last year and he’s even worse this year.
I would never go to a game Smith starts at home, it must be insufferable

One of the four flames there could have boxed out Perron, instead of standing around searching for the puck.

It likely is, but the Flames need to realize they are dealing with a guy who turns 37 in a few months and who's upside is average (.915ish save percentage) goaltending. That isn't worth putting him out there and costing you games while you hope he can make adjustments at his age. The benefit just isn't there.
