Because his birthday is after June 30, he won't be UFA-eligible by age until July 1, 2026 (he turns 27 on July 20, 2025).
If he's on the roster for 40+ games this season (and each of the next 6), he will be UFA-eligible with 7 accrued NHL seasons on July 1, 2025.

He's not gonna be happy about it, but he'll be back very soon if he gets things clicking down there.
Enjoy 1st line ice-time Dube! See you soon

I am glad he started the season here. First of all, he earned it, and that sends the right message to everyone. But beyond that, it also gave him a chance to practice and play with NHLers, which will have shown him exactly what he needs to improve on.
Now he can go to the A full of confidence, and with a plan.
When he comes back, he will be a full time NHLer. And a good one.

California instead of Calgary for the winter.
I don't think he will mind.

Dube is an NHLer. All things being equal, he was better than quite a few forwards who are not being sent down and his line actually should’ve garnered more ice time. But it’s obvious the organization is investing in his growth and they want him to work his way to becoming an impact forward. I have no doubt he’ll crush it down there and be an even better NHLer later.

I hope so. So many guys go down and lose their confidence or develop bad habits because of the lack of structure. It didn't help Sven. Only being gifted an NHL job in Vancouver, and decent minutes, made Sven an even adequate player.
Of course, Dube has a lot more game than Sven IMO. Hopefully he plays centre down there.

I'm alright with it. More ice time for him and gives Czarnik a better showing too.
Frolik good to go I wonder?

No. He didn't practice today and Peters said he won't be ready to play tomorrow.

Going to the A wasn't Sven's problem, Sven was Sven's problem.
Dube has a great work ethic.

No doubt. To work, though, I don't think you keep him down more than you have to. To get NHL skills you need to play at NHL speed against NHL defences and shoot against NHL goalies, IMO.

Could you clarify what you mean by lack of structure?
The coaches are hired for their acumen in player development , as well as simulating the system and structure of the parent club.
As far as Sven goes, he was his own worst enemy.

Even though they try to emulate it and give a lot of talk to playing the same style as the big club, I don't see it. IMO the defences down there are pretty loose. That's why a lot of goalies have better save% in the NHL than in the AHL - it's not because they suddenly get way better. Look at Petersen in LA. His stats are much better in the big leagues.

Hopefully he gets top line minutes and regular PP duties.

Players in the AHL are not ready to play in the NHL. Of course the play is somewhat sloppier.
They learn how to do things right , over and over again. They gain confidence by sustaining consistent strong play. When that happens over a period of time, supposing they possess the skill set to play in the NHL, they get called up.
Goalies are a different breed. Tough to compare them to skaters.
