Congrats to the 2020 6th round pick for managing to avoid Edmonton. Well done.

Decent depth trade for the Oilers at a cheap price.

They are going to send Lucic to Arizona for a bag of pucks, and will have to add their 1st round pick to the deal. That will clear up some cap space.

Well, I guess the Sens made their point. Talk smack about the coaches, and you will be punished with no remorse.

There should be a "there are two Widemans?" Meme with Treliving with a look of disgust.

Presumably because all of his salary will be paid through LTIR until Sekara returns, at which time he can be waived and his salary buried in the AHL.
This is the only way that the Oilers could have accommodated Sekara's possible return without trading away salary in the interim, by picking up someone whose salary could be completely buried.
Good pick up for Ottawa, too, because at age 28, Wideman had been surpassed on even their defensive depth chart, and a 6th has at least some potential to turn into someone useful. And it sends a strong message that not respecting the coach will result in the harshest possible punishment. This should be a good motivation for the whole team, threatening to trade any passengers to the Oil.

Can teams choose to retain cap hit though? For the purposes of the salary cap all that matters is cap hit.

It's hilarious that one poster on HF has already assigned him to the first PP unit while another describes him as a 4-6 defense-man. That's a broad range, wonder which it is? How can Chia both destroy the team yet turn a 6th round pick into a 2nd pairing PP quarterback?

Imagine what it must feel like to be traded for a sixth round pick! That's got to be terribly deflating.
