It's not enough when I also watched the game, and have hard facts backing my opinion. How about this:

Quote:
The Flames five on five had a 56-26 edge in five on five attempts (68%, with period splits of 56% 76% and 72%)
It's not scoring chances directly, but it shows that, after a basically even 1st, the Flames had ~3/4 of the 5-on-5 attempts.

Hard to see the Canucks outchancing the Flames for 45 mins with significantly fewer PPs, and only a fraction of the 5-on-5 attempts.

The Knights look lost compared to last season and Elliott is outplaying Fleury.

Interesting numbers, and I’m not sure I can refute them.

Despite what i thought I watched last night, I guess we actually dominated the Nucks.

Canucks scored on every chance they had in the third period...I mean they had 4 goals in a period the Flames clearly dominated so they were very opportunistic. Doesn't excuse the Flames effort though they should have dominated from start to finish.

Dougie did not get a ton of ice time with the Hurricanes. 4th among defensemen. And only 25 seconds on the PP.

The Islanders win 2-1 in OT. Josh Bailey with the GWG on the PP and that gets new coach Barry Trotz his first win for his new team.

Subban with the GWG as the Predators hang on for the 3-2 reg win in MSG.

The Stars go on an offensive on slaught with 3 goals in 96 seconds and beat the Coyotes 3-0. Bishop with the 30 save SHUTOUT.

Watched a bit of the 3rd of the caps/pens game. It's amazing how they transition as soon as the puck is retrieved defensively. The puck is immediately going forward and at high speed, not to mention all the players on the ice at speed. Like they all skating downhill towards the opposition.

I dream of the day the flames play like this....

Been dreaming of this since the rebuild started back in 2013.

Holy crap. I had completely forgotten that Trotz is now coaching in NYI.

Happy that the puck has dropped on a new season...best of luck to your Flames!

I was able (after much swearing and frustration) to get the darn NHL.com to stream at work with my Center Ice/Directv login, and got to watch the 1st and 3rd periods of the Sens/Blackhawks game.

A lot of guys made their NHL debuts, and there was much sloppiness and egregious turnovers that caused both Anderson and Ward grief, with goals against. It remains to be seen how quickly the rooks on both teams can get up to NHL standards of play, but I am happy to have my guys get the two points.

Good to have hockey back, and it is good to visit, again, with my friends here at Calpuck.
