Credit to Ryan Huska for the development of Andersson and Kylington. 2nd round picks that look like they could be NHL regulars soon.

Couldn't finish though, and that needs to change. I think he's a solid call up as a winger that won't hurt you though.
Yeah the question is whether he is an occasional AHL call-up when injuries occur, or can he become an NHL regular. Things can change quickly with some excellent AHL play, but right now he is 24 years old and will start the season as maybe the 3rd potential call-up among the forwards.

I don't think there is much difference between Kylington-Prout and Kulak-Stone.

Hopefully neither is our third pairing and Valimaki/Andersson win those jobs sooner vs later

I thought Foo was better than Hathaway and Lazar in camp.

Hathaway and Lazar are better candidates for #13 and 14 forwards, though. Foo needs to play regularly.

I have to keep reminding myself that Kylington is only 21. Hopefully this upward trend in his development continues.

I did too, but he didn't show any finish, and he doesn't bring the same physical/effort/sandpaper those two provide.

I like foo, but he had several beauty chances that fell by the wayside. I think that impacted the decision making more than any other factor.

That leaves no PTOs left, right?

Only 6 extras, including Hogstrom, so really only 5 more cuts to come, including either Rittich or Gillies. 2 forwards and 2 defencemen.

On D, Hogstrom, Valimaki, and one of Andersson, Prout or Kulak (my guess is Prout)

On forward, one of Mangiapane or Dube, and one of Lazar, Hathaway or Peluso

23-man Roster
There may be a maximum of 23 players on each Club's playing roster at any one time from the commencement of the NHL regular season through the trade deadline. Prior to the start of the season, each Club must submit to the NHL its "Opening Day Playing Roster" which shall be comprised of not more than 23 players. Each Club must have a roster of at least 20 players, composed of 18 skaters and two goaltenders. Players on Injured Reserve do not count in the 23-man limit.
  • Do the Flames carry 3, 2 or 1 extra player(s)?
  • Waive Lazar prior to roster declaration better chance of going unclaimed or keep with NHL roster for now

At this point, they can get down to a 23 man roster without waiving anyone else. The question is, have any of the waiver-exempt guys done enough to force Tre's hand into waiving someone?

Gillies over Rittich?
Andersson/Valimaki over Prout/Kulak?
Dube/Mangiapane over Lazar/Hathaway?

Fffbc I wouldn't be locking Kulak in as the 6th there. He's nowhere close to locking that up.

Dump the last 3 to the AHL along with Prout and Kulak and call it a day

True, he's not a lock for that 6th spot. I do think he's a lock to be on 23 man opening roster.

I don't have much confidence in either one of Rittich or Gillies. Wonder if Glass should have gotten a longer look.
