I think the Flames had an great draft overall given the currency the held, probably worthy of the A- due to the tail end of their selections. Given who they took with their first two picks, they probably could have traded back for an extra lottery ticket, but none of us know whether they tried or whether there were opportunities. A couple minor gripes but overall I think all the players have a legitimate shot at making it - a welcome improvement over the picking of players with exactly a 0.00% chance of making it in Hunter Smith, Keegan Kanzig, etc.
Disappointed that my dark house, Bulat Shafigullin, didn't even make it to the Flames' first pick as I thought he might. Now, I don't expect the Flames would have taken the ultimate gamble given how risk averse they (and most other organizations) are, but boy does he have incredible potential. I'm also surprised Linus Nyman wasn't selected - a missed chance by the Flames there...Kyle Topping out of Kelowna and John Gruden out of the USHL, as mentioned in the other threads, too.
