Bruins playing much better than I anticipated against a good club. Only one game but this is game is doing a lot of good for the CP pool.

Rask just threw his skate blade across the rink!

Odd play. Rask's left skate blade comes off, refs don't blow it down and Tampa scores

How can they allow that play to continue?
The ref clearly knew Rask had an equipment issue. That has to be an automatic whistle, right?

Should they blow it down? Millen is right I think. They don’t blow it down for anyone else.

That's a garbage non-call. Good on Rask to show his disgust.

I don't know of a rule that stops play for a skate blade off, even for a goalie. Rask was too busy trying to talk to the refs and should have been playing goal. Too bad it was such a cheap penalty though.

Not sure if there is one. At least that's what Gord Miller said on NBC

Never seen that before. Crazy how easy his blade came off.

I guess if a player's blade comes out they don't call it dead. Odd situation for sure.
If it was his mask it's a safety issue, whereas the blade isn't.

I don’t see why they should blow it dead. Equipment issues are a player problem. There was no safety risk.

Not much he could do other than try to get an official's attention. Not going to be able to stand or butterfly slide without a blade. Dangerous for him, should have been a whistle.

If the blade came off because of some sort of contact with a bolt then I guess they could say goalie interference.

Except he decided to stay at the side of the net. He didn't even try to get to the middle, or follow the play.

If his mobility is limited, he can square up to a shot, and all of the equipment is based on being square to the shooter. Slaps hot off the back and he's out with broken ribs. I don't care who wins this game, that's a rule that needs to be considered.

Are WealthSimple and Questrade in some sort of competition for most misleading, sanctimonious cringeworthy commercials on tv right now?

You try moving around effectively in a crease on one foot, not as easy as it sounds.

The NHL should look closely at that situation. For a goalie it's not much of a safety issue, but a skater loses the ability to avoid pucks or other skaters if they lose a skate blade.
I think the play should be whistled dead if a skate blade comes out.
Weird play in general.

Why would it hit him in the back? He was square to the play. He just decided to complain instead of try and make a save.
