At least we will never see threads about the "Sedins trade value?" ever again.

They mentioned about 10 years ago that they might consider playing for MoDo for a season or two after retiring from the NHL. As much as we dislike the Canucks, they were both great players and even better for the city of Vancouver. Similar to P.K., they game a lot of money to the hospital without a second thought.

It will be interesting to see if they move their entire families back to Sweden or continue to live in Vancouver. All of their kids have lived in Vancouver so moving to Sweden permanently would certainly be a big change.

The first thing that needs to happen is to get those two pieces of crap out of my league, not just out of the league but out of hockey. Because they're proven that they don't have what it takes to play in the NHL anymore. You can talk about being ambassadors to the league, and talk about how classy they are, but it didn't get them anywhere. You can talk about how they set Vancouver Canuck scoring records, but CaptainCrunch 3:16 says that father time whomped their a$$.

Tell you what Sedins, you can go back to Sweden, and live together in some creepy twin fashion, and have your high tea at noon, and maybe find some of that skill and speed that you had 10 years ago, but you're time is done, and father time is going to serve notice on other so called respected NHL veterans, and it doesn't matter whether its Rick Nash, or Jay Bouwmeester, or Eric Staal that you're time is done

Any hatred I ever had for these two were more along the line of personal jealousy for how good they were for a rival. I had a lot of respect for how they played the game, and how they handled themselves on and off the ice.

I wouldn't be surprised if they continue playing in Sweden for another year or two.

I'll take your insight attributed to a bottle of bourbon. Dude - Daniel has 21 goals and 52 points in 78 games - not even playing first line minutes most games. Would I sign him on the Flames next season? Probably not - even though he's better than half the players on our team.

Nice that they'll be able to ride their ponies off into the sunset on their own terms.

Still blows me away how at 28/29 years old these two went from 70-80 point players to 100+ point players for a couple of seasons. Took the Canucks with them to President trophy/contender status.

Was really frustrating as a Flames fan because right around the same time the Flames were imploding under Brent Sutter.

By the way, for those looking for a decent parallel:

First 3 full seasons in the league. . .

D. Sedin - 20g 14a 34pts; 9g 23a 32pts; 14g 17 31pts
S. Bennett - 18g 18a 36pts; 13g 13a 26pts; 11g 15a 26pts

The pony joke that went with their 2005 contracts is still pretty good.

Anson Carter and Alexandre Burrows should offer to cover the drink tab at their retirement party.

Classy guys, really happy for them. Even got to go the Finals in 2011, that's not something most NHL players get to do. I imagine a double jersey retiring next Fall. Not too many Canucks you can say that about.

Of course, for every Sedin on the team there has been three ass clown Canucks, so the team still sucks donkey nads and I will continue to hate Vancouver.

Always hated them because they were Flame killers and for their constant diving and embellishment. That being said, they seem like really good guys for the most part and the league will certainly miss them.

And of course I have to thank them for providing me with one of my all-time favorite playoff moments:

For those who weren't around, that version of the board allowed for a thread title and sub-title. When the Sedins signed it was:

Sedins re-signed by Canucks
Each promised a pony

The Canucks just got a lot younger.

Players on the Canucks who will be 24 or younger next season (that played this season):

Brendan Gaunce
Reid Boucher
Ashton Sautner
Troy Stecher
Brendan Leipsic
Derrick Pouliot
Tyler Motte
Bo Horvat
Nikolay Goldobin
Jake Virtanen
Thatcher Demko
Adam Gaudette
Brock Boeser

These guys scored a total of 79 goals for the Canucks and 180 pts

Compare that to the Flames 24 and under next season:

Spencer Foo
Brett Kulak
Jon Gillies
Sean Monahan
Ryan Lomberg
Morgan Klimchuk
Mark Jankowski
Curtis Lazar
Sam Bennett
Andrew Mangiapane
Rasmus Andersson
Matthew Tkachuk

these guys 80 goals 179 pts.

The Flames on this list going to be better next year Jankowski, Kulak or Anderssen and Bennett outside chance for Dube and Valimaki.

The Canucks Boesser and Horvat missed 20 games each, Gaudeutte (likely Hobey Baker winner) their #5 overall pick in 2017 Elias Pettersson led the SHL in scoring. Their 2nd pick in 2017 Kole Lund was the Top scorer on the Rockets a bit ahead of Dillon Dube who is a year older.

They have an expected 25M in cap space . It will be interesting if the Canucks waste their $$ on UFA's or build internally and wait for Demko.

He actually broke Kent Nilsson's old record for points by a junior aged player in the SEL, 56 points to 54... Of course, Kent did it in twelve fewer games.

I wonder if one gets into the HoF at first eligibility if he refuses until the brother also gets in.

No chance of one getting in instead of the other.

Identical players in terms of productivity.

And they will be first time eligible electees.
