I get that Bennett is our highest pick ever and we want him to succeed, but he did not earn that spot, so lets not act like its some kind of travesty that he's been put back where he belongs. It also spreads the talent out a little bit.
You know whos done even less to earn that spot? Chris Stewart

There are really very few similarities between Ferland and Stewart.

People think Stewart is a power forward that can create space for his linemates. He's the opposite of that.

If Stewart goes in banging and making space, that could potentially benefit Gaudreau and Monahan, but i too loathe the idea of taking Bennett away from the top line. Who knows may only be for a shift or two or a period.

I have to believe that GG isn't blind and saw how good Bennett looked with Gaudreau and Monahan the last two games. Hopefully it's just a little practice experiment with Stewart.

I think GG employs a very good system which he basically ripped of from Mike Babcock but he is an absolute moron when it comes to lines and man management. Like beyond incompetent! Chris Stewart is garbage, he shouldn't even be on the 4th line let alone the 1st. Get this goof of a coach out of here before he totally drives Bennett out of town only to explode somewhere else.
Yea but how can you write the guy off so fast when he hasnt even played a game for us yet? At least just give him a chance to see what hes capable of. Maybe Glen just wants to see what hes dealing with. Stewart will have something to prove and will be motivated.

Its not like this line up will be set in stone. It never is with the line juggling Glen usually does throughout the game.

Wtf are you babbling about? He has been lights out since joining the first line, how is that not earning his spot and a better question is how has Stewart a
earned that spot? A guy who has been mostly a heathy scratch on a team that could use his skill set if he actually competed waived him. Hey, Shore is a new guy too, maybe we should put him in Monahan's place to give him a boost as well. Wtf....

Not a fan of this move at all. What more does Bennett have to do to stay in the top 6?

Man some of you guys need to chill ...

Bennett on the top line basically had Gaudreau playing on his off side, not Bennett. I'm guessing they don't feel that was working for Gaudreau and don't want Bennett on his off wing in his own zone.

So it's promote Frolik or Hathaway until Ferland is back or try Stewart.

I'm not all that hopeful, but I get the thinking.

I’d prefer our coach to try the practice experiments in pre season or practice, rather than when the entire season is on the line.

We should have just signed Iggy and gave him the C and put him on the top line if we picked up Stewart to play with Monahan and Gaudreau.

I logged in and thought wow, 3 pages already! people must be excited after trade deadline. Nope just more complaining about small changes. Good Lord , hope you all are proven wrong. I have no problem in them cultivating a relationship between bennett and janko, Bennett needs to perform with all lines not just with the top one. CP is getting to be too much

He should get copies of the pictures Brouwer must have.

Interesting. I'm going to give the coaching staff the benefit of the doubt and assume they talked to Bennett about this and he was ok with it. Good way to get the new guy jacked up right off the bat.

I predict an Olli Jokinen(the first go round) type game from him tonight.

I think we are freaking out too much on Stewart getting the 1st line job. We need to see if he can have really good chemistry with our best two players offensively to really get him going. GG is also pretty anal about the stick handedness, so i am assuming Stewart will be dropped to the 3rd line with Ferland and Jankowski when Ferland returns. At this point we try another experiment on the first line and have the Bennett - Jankowski - Hathaway line get another crack since those three are already familiar with each other.

Fire gulutzan, I’m sick of his shoddy roster management.

I don't think there is too much to be upset over with Stewart on the first line. He just joined the team, is probably going to play with a lot of energy, and he probably won't stay on the top line all night anyway.

I am one that thinks you shouldn't put all your eggs in one basket, unless it is the PP. Spread that offence around. Gaudreau and Monahan do well with one another, and that RW can be a complimentary piece. Stewart - like Ferland - has a nice shot and decent wheels - so let's see how that works out.

If the Flames can find a winger that works for the Gaudreau-Monahan pairing, that's great. Ferland works, and I am happy to keep him there once he returns. However, if Stewart suddenly regains his scoring touch (not completely out of the realm of possibility - at least for short bursts), then Ferland on the third line might actually make this team difficult to play against if that third line develops something.

Either way, I actually expect Stewart to get bounced around through all the lines other than Backlund's line (that line has been stable now going on two seasons). 1st, 3rd, 4th... Gulutzan will probably mix it up tonight, so I think the hand-wringing at this stage is probably premature. Let's see where he plays all game, not just where he starts.

As for the game tonight, Flames better come out jumping. Dallas is talented enough that they can quickly put two or three goals in the net if a team isn't ready. Flames have had good success against them lately IIRC, but it wasn't that long ago that Seguin and Benn had their way with this team.

No more I say!

They hit us, we hit them right back.
