Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
Replying to @FriedgeHNIC
From what I understand, Hajek was the guy NYR wanted to seal the deal

Yzerman is the best GM in the league by a margin in my opinion at this point. He will bring Tampa cups.

That one is interesting.
Namestnikov = Miller from a production standpoint except that Miller is actually bigger and more physical. Really like that part of the deal for Tampa.
So then it's
Howden (16 1st), Hajek (16 2nd), 1st, 2nd for McDonagh
I don't mind that trade off at all for Tampa, considering the 1st is 25th overall at best.
Yzerman is the class GM of the league and it's not even close at this point IMO.

We don't have any spare young players of even Namestinikov's level. We don't have a 1st.

What are you even talking about?
2018 first
forward with 44 points
2nd rounder
how could we even come close? Nemestnikov has more points than Miller and is younger

Absolute fleecing. I'd rather have Miller than Namesnikov anyway, so TB essentially didn't give up an actual rotation player to get a top-tier defenseman with some term.

37th overall in 2016, 27th overall in 2016, ~25-30th overall in 2018 and Namestnikov (44 points in 62 games although probably benefiting from his team) and a potential 2nd rounder. That's not a bad haul for New York either.

Is McDonaugh that good that he got traded for this much? I don't watch any Rangers games so I'm not sure.

oooh conditional 2nd can become another 1st:
Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
Draft picks in NYR/TB deal. There is a first in 2018 and a second-rounder that becomes a first if TB wins the Stanley Cup this year or next

That's not less unless you believe some kind of any type of hype that Tampa managed to drive about Koekkoek despite the fact he's 24 and not yet played a full NHL season.
