I think I’d freak out if this turned out to be some kind of Bennett + for a Reinhart swap plus a rental like Pouliot or something to add depth.

The only players that make realistic sense for both CGY and BUF are

Ryan O'Reilly - 4 more years @ 7.5 mil - 18 G 26 A in 61 games
Kyle Okposo - 4 more years @ 6 mil - 10 G 26 A in 60 games
Sam Reinhart - RFA after this year - 14 G 18 A in 62 games
Evander Kane - UFA after this year - 20 G 20 A in 61 games

Bennett is only be moved if ROR is coming the other way.

E. Kane is a pure rental with a ton of risk. Maybe he gets a draft pick and a good prospect (Kylington). I still wouldn't go for it.

Conroy said the same thing. He then confirmed they're interested in players with term or ones they could negotiate a contract with, presumably before a trade occurs.

I'm sure we'd ask to talk to Kane and his agent first.

Come on, now you are exaggerating. Kane is only 26 years old; 4th pick overall with proven elite-level skills. Bennett has not demonstrated those skills yet, unfortunately. Both players have had struggles, albeit of different nature. Both could benefit from a change of scenery. Kane could help our play-off push much better than Bennett.

I wouldnt be surprised if Bennett moves...his lack of progression would make that an easy explanation.

To move him for Kane would surprise me somewhat however. I would think that Tre would want more "certainty" in the player coming back as this one has many question marks.

An engaged and determined Kane on the right side of Monahan and Gaudreau sure is a nice thought though...no question.

He did cryptically mention players with term or players they can re-sign. Connect the dots with oragnge Julius caliber rumors from a month or so ago with posters claiming to know Kane stating Calgary is of interest to him and here we are
