I’ve noticed the ice cream has gotten smaller like others have said. I also used to get the wings all the time in the Alumni Lounge (best wings in Calgary), but they basically cut the portion size in half so I stopped ordering as I’m not paying 12 bucks for 6-7 wings. I asked the chef there what the deal was and he said the less wings portion was directly from management.

I’ve also noticed less meat on the Montreal Smoked Meat Sandwich, but it’s still too good to say no to.

That was the reported draft price.

ETA: it might have been 2016 though. It's not clear.

The new 60k seat Perth Stadium didn't get the memo. $12.50 for a "fish burger":



I am both a huge foodie and sports fan and, other than at American venues, I am always disappointed with the over priced crap at stadiums. I would spend so much money if the food was half decent and reasonably priced but instead usually just get one hot dog to tide me over until after the game.

Pocket dogs at the dome are OK in a pinch. But obviously still expensive.

But yeah, I avoid concessions. It's such a rip off.

It's usually just beer for me and on occasion, peanuts.

Popcorn is still good. Expensive for what you get but still good. Oddly it was better when it was Orville Redenbacher. Not sure why. More butter, oil & salt would be my guess.

Selling good food and drink at a reasonable price (not a loss leader, but small profit margin) would go a long ways toward easing the pain of face value ticket prices. Sky high concessions just reeks of greed.

Those $5 Tacos turned me right off. I was going to buy some but at that price I just couldn't do it. Place was dead as well.

I imagine that the Flames unofficial position would be.....

Give us the sweetheart deal that Atlanta gave the Falcons....and we will give the fans cheaper concession prices.

No, the Flames position would be to promise cheaper concessions in that situation, only to lie and actually deliver more expensive concessions.

KK: We need to charge $20 for a dirty dog in order to remain competitive in this league.....We will also be the first franchise in the league to charge our patrons for ultra low grade toilet paper to aid in disposal of said dirty dog.

And then their actual actions would be: give us the sweetheart deal the Falcons got, and we'll juice our bottom line by raising prices on the concessions as well to take advantage of the new building factor.

When there was a Wendy's, I'd show up a bit early and have the grease'n'sugar deal. Now I'll maybe have a hot dog, if I'm absolutely starving and might literally die of hunger. But usually not.

Not in San Francisco, $12-$15 USD for a regular tall boy can or American pint. Beer was stupid expensive at AT&T Park. Not even worth buying brews at the game.

Oakland was much better and during the 4th inning, $4 american pints!.

If the Flames could find a good balance between cost and quality, I would spend a lot more at the dome during games. I usually just get a Pocket Dog and then drink beer for the rest of the game. Food is mediocre and expensive.

The price of concessions, as is all goods, will always be based on supply and demand and setting the price at an amount to create the highest amount of profit for the seller.

Prices aren't increased simply because the Flames need more profit, as it might actually result in decreased profit. Lowering prices simply because the owners got a sweetheart arena deal will never occur as one has nothing to do with the other.

The fact of the matter is, I assume that the existing pricing reflects maximum profit. if the owners could decrease prices or increase the quality an still increase profits, they would do so. Gladly. But as long as people are buying the crappy food at excessive prices, there is no financial reason to do so.

If malt sales do indeed crater due to smaller and inferior product, that will become known and it would eventually change.

Make no mistake, the rules of supply and demand do no exist inside the arena as there is a monopoly on crummy food/beverage set by Ken King and his team of loyal henchmen. They set the market every season and will not hesitate to squeeze an extra dime out of an old lady's purse at the nearest opportunity in order to pad Murray Edwards offshore investment accounts.

You can't actually believe that we as consumers have set the market of $10.25 beer at the dome? The same beverage was $5.50 fourteen years ago at nearly half as much yet the wholesale pricing has increased at nowhere near that rate. People are hungry and have no alternative. People are disenchanted with the home ice product and need to get bombed to mask the distaste of spending a small fortune on a mediocre product many nights.

Well, unfortunateluy he's right. That's market value within the walls of the Saddledome and only within those walls. It's too bad arena/stadium consumers wouldn't say "enough is enough" with their wallets.

To our own demise we tend to say "enough is enough" with our mouths and then walk inside and open our wallets.
