Last time I was in the calgary humane societies building they had about 20 kittens to choose from. At petland you might have 4 or 5.

You can get a kitten from the humane society for $140 with shots and spay/neutering. Why pay $100 bucks more? You could probably feed your kitty for a year with that extra 100 bucks.

Go take a drive to the humane society tonight to at least check it out.

You could buy a jersey with that extra $100 you'll save.

I guess we're going to Petland for sentimental reasons, we got Max there 13 years ago, we took him to the vet next door to that Petland to be put down, and we chose to continue the tradition by going to the same Petland we got our last cat from.

I'm sure you'll get a nice cat wherever you go.

Indoor cats live an average of 11 years and outdoor cats live an average of 2 years if I'm not mistaken.

11 years............. I would of though the avg age was higher. My cat is almost 15 and its still quite healthy. The other method to find a cat / kitten is the bargin finder. If I remember correctly my cat was free.

Exactly... there is NOTHING wrong with Petland as their cats need homes too. If i'm a sucker for giving petland a minimal profit, so be it.

Well . . . . . the difference might be that Petland kittens won't be killed if you don't take them.

I think the Humane Society does euthenize if I'm not mistaken (correct me if I'm wrong, and I might be).

15 kittens at MEOWs right now . . . a no-kill shelter. Here they are with their pictures . . . . don't look!!! You'll be hooked!!! Check out Fizz . . . that's the one you want.

I burst out when I saw this cat, he is so ugly/funny looking, but still cute in a way.

There sure are a lot of black cats at the mew foundation, I wonder why? It seems that tabbies are usually the most common.

Ok, but tell me how you are any different than the people you rally against who are stuck in their ways. You are doing the exact same thing... you refuse to give any thought to the humane society, and in doing so lash out at those who offer it as a suggestion. Tell me what the difference is in the two situations, because I can't think of one.

Yawn, I'm not getting involved with you. All it will result in is a Mod Edit.

Thanks for the link Cow, but we're not looking to adopt, for 1) They already have names 2) We want a kitten that is just weeks old so we can train it.

If you don't mind me asking who cares if it has a name or not... and you can still train older kittens. Jesus christ I can't imagine why you are so popular.

My question: Why the fudge do you care why I choose the route i'm going to choose? I'm going this route because I feel like it. It's what I want to do. I don't need an asshat on a message board to convince me otherwise or to explain to him my reasons.

Again, alot of people in this thread have been helpful and creative but you're just p*ssing me off. Don't you have anything better to do on a Monday afternoon?

Holy shinguard

Why I don't want a kitten to die because you want one that doesn't have a name.... sorry if that concept goes over your head.

So do you not have anything better to do with your time than to lash out at myself as well as many others on this message board. Once again hypocrite..... or are you just going to call me a canucks fan.

Well, again, I'm not militant about it but you shouldn't be getting a kitten that's "weeks old" as it implies they will be removed from their mother too early.

In fact, if you read the captions on the MEOW's site, you will see some of the kittens are being held back until a certain date, the point where they've been properly weaned, that being roughly eight weeks. In effect, the MEOW's kittens fit your criteria.

Second, you can change an animals name at any time by simply calling it the new name . . . . it won't take long before it figures it out.

Third, good luck with training a cat!!!

Again, I'm sure you'll give any kitten a good home regardless of source . . . .

Haven't we already been down that road MMF? He stalks me damnit. I could care less if he was a registered member of CP.

He remembers obscure shinguard I've posted months ago, then uses it when he see's people having a debate with me.

Mods, tell MMM to quit stalking me, it's creepy.

Back on topic the 11 year old average really surprises me. Is that being skewed by cats dieing really young (say getting run over by a car at the age of 2).

I've had a number of cats in my time. We lost one at 4 years old to coyotes but other than that they all lived to about 15, and one to 19.

That would put your average at 12.7 years then.

Between cars and coyotes, sometimes cats don't always make it.

I can't even count the number of times I've had to slam on my brakes hard for a cat.

I have an odd memory in the sense that I am able to recall what has been stated months before. I guess that is what being in debate in high school will do (recalling facts). Trust me it has nothing to do with you in particular, but I am able to remember things from pretty much everyone I encounter.

But Jordon I thought you would be complimented as it is as close as you will get to a friend.... :P
