yes it's definitely either of those two exact things

Sacrilege! Flames win today 5 corsis to winnipeg's paltry 2 corsis.

I never said that this means the Flames have 2 of the best 5 lines in the league.

All this says is that these lines do a good job putting the pucks toward the opposition net.

There's nothing more to read into this. Nothing to get angry about.

It's just a stat. Like FO%, blocked shots, +/-, whatever. Make of it what you will.

To illustrate my point

Top lines by TOI:
  1. Kucherov-Stamkos-Namestnikov
  2. Gaudreau-Monahan-Ferland
  3. Marchessault-Karlsson-Smith
  4. Iafallo-Kopitar-Brown
  5. Tkachuk-Backlund-Frolik

Top pairs by TOI:
  1. Jones-Werenski
  2. Giordano-Hamilton
  3. Ekblad-Yandle
  4. Trouba-Morrissey
  5. Reilly-Hainsey
  6. Braun-Vlasic
  7. Demers-Ekman-Larsson
  8. Brodie-Hamonic

4/5 lines and 7/8 pairings are the same as the ranking by CF, so it's more a byproduct of being healthy and keeping the same groups together than any measure of quality.

Watching this one without sound. How awesome would it be for tv's to have an option that turns off sports announcers and amplifies the sounds of the game?

Okay. Again, no single stat tells the whole story.

I could post the correlation between CF% and the NHL standings in the last 10 years and people would still be like "what about the Flames in 14/15? HA! proved you wrong!"

True. But if you look after the original stats you posted, the first 2 people to quote both took it as "the Flames have 2 of the top 5 lines and 2 of the top 8 pairings in the league." Which is the conclusion I'm trying to argue against. Not necessarily your fault that people interpreted it that way.

So glad I bought a ticket. 4 rows behind Calgary bench! It’s a lot easier to get a good single ticket.

No, we'd be like "thanks for posting this positive, but weak correlation between winning and CF, which everyone is aware of, but tells us nothing at all".

No, you read it wrong. He was clearly referring to the fact that the Flames have 2 of the top 5 CF forward lines and 2 of the top 8 CF defensive pairs in the league.

He was not outright declaring that they are the best forward lines and defence pairs.

CF has a correlation with goal scoring. What are you arguing here.

And my post you quoted stated CF%. It definitely has a correlation with winning, more than any measured stat or analytics publicly available.

Do you even understand these stats? Or are you arguing for the sake of it?

Just Curious...From an advanced stats look for the Flames; how do they look this year?

Are we super Lucky etc?
