He has had some productive NHL seasons, playing with Kulak or Bartkowski won’t help his production, or playing for the coyotes in their bad seasons. Just give him a chance there, the flames PP hasn’t been good, especially with muffin shots from guys like Brodie

Would it really hurt the vaunted Flames powerplay to try something new? I mean the PP is so good as it is after all..

Even if his shot does miss the net, it's going to make defenders move. It's going to make goalies react differently other than I don't know, maybe the napping position they've become accustom to when up against that flames powerhouse power play.

Edit: here's what we know of the Flames PP so far.

Pass, pass, indecisive, yeah I'm gonna pass, oh a pass cross ice hoping for tip, pass intercepted, cleared. Regroup, skate up to red line drop pass to Johnny, pass pass pass.

I don't think I've missed anything.

Kent Wilson‏ @Kent_Wilson
Looks like Hawks management prefer Jordon Osterle and his 103 PDO. His on-ice SH% is over 10%. Franson’s is under 5%.
That's all you need to know about Relative CF%

Some now believe that relative shot attempts are the be all and end all of whether a hockey player is good or not.

I thought waiver order was based on point percentage, not total points? I think the Oilers have the 4th worst point percentage rate, meaning they would have 4th priority if I am correct.

If Arizona has a contract available they will pick him up. They are trying to tank and give their young players more time in the minors.

It won't help their team, but it will take him off the market before he moves up to a team that could actually use him.

My theory anyway. If you are going to claim F. Hamilton... You may as well be claiming C. Franson too.

If you think no team at this point has resigned to missing playoffs this season, and are actively planning for future seasons - including draft position - then you are naive.
I would say throwing in the towel is apt enough slang to express that.

That’s not what I said.

I said no GM is telling their owner they are throwing in the towel in January.

You just know Cody's going to be up all night dreading the possibility of finding out the Oilers have claimed him.

Are you kidding?
4 x 4M coming up in the offseason, he'd be ecstatic. Well, assuming he can outplay Russell that is.

Disagree with a few posters regarding Stone. I believe Stone is exactly what the Flames need on the pp and he does hit the net frequently. His hard point is being underutilized by a coaching staff who will need to be told by Treliving or Burke to try him on the pp. if you watch the successful pp teams it seems they all have at least one defenseman pounding shots from the point. Cameron/Gully are scared to try anything new, they just keep practicing their unsuccessful pp process.

'Hawks had 2 D-men that they had to scratch every night. Franson, though serviceable, pretty much has the worst wheels of the bunch, and his only offensive asset was point shots on the PP, which, given the 'Hawks pathetic PP numbers, wasn't making a huge difference when he did dress.

I would, before this waiver, rank the 'Hawk D in effectiveness

1. Keith
2. Rutta
3. Forsling
4. Murphy
5. Seabrook (and sinking)
6. Oesterle (but his stock is rising)
7. Kempny
8. Franson

The 'Hawks clearly feel that developing the younger guys is more important than spinning Franson out there regularly. He deserves better than multiscratches, as do the youth.

If he ISN'T claimed, then he waits at the Rock, to be moved for a token draft pick, later.

In the same set of moves, Hayden, slumping recently, takes the bus to Rockford. Jurco, hot in the AHL recently, gets a look (and possible showcased for a trade) with the 'Hawks.

Well, that wasn't expected.

Maybe a team will make a trade for him, offloading a contract at the same time.

And the shakeup in Chicago continues:

Mark Lazerus
@MarkLazerus
Brent Seabrook is still on the ice, with the six other defenseman already in the room. In other words, it looks like Seabrook might be a scratch tonight.

Mark Lazerus @MarkLazerus
Seabrook still on the ice. Almost certainly a healthy scratch.
