I like the trade. It helps to free up the space as Rittich has taken the backup job and run with it. It's a minor deal, but it helps with the congestion in the crease and we get a thumper to throw out there when necessary. Can't complain at all.

Acquiring Lack was a very reasonable and sensible gamble. The cost was very low, and there was sufficient reason to think that his troubles were the result of the Hurricanes coaches. If he could turn it around, it was an almost free asset.
It also bought them some time to see what the young guys looked like this year. Assuming that Rittich or Gillies would be ready for the backup roll right out of camp would have been a huge and foolish gamble. But having Lack for a month or so gave them the opportunity to see that Riddich was carrying on from last year. He showed that he was ready.
So a simple swap of Lack for Riddich, and the team is in a good place with respect to goaltending.
Now that it didn't work out for Lack here, I am happy to see that he is getting another opportunity.
And now that Parsons has put some work in at the ECHL level, he is ready to take the next step.
I know it's popular to rag on Treliving these days, but he handled this situation pretty damn well if you ask me.

I feel for Eddie. I really like him as a person but realistically it wasn’t working out here and hopefully he has a chance to figure his game out in the NJ system.
