I thought I'd update this.

Went to the courthouse to speak to the Prosecutor this morning, explained what happened and they withdrew my ticket.

Like others have said, an after-the-fact following too close ticket is tough to prove in court unless there is video evidence, witnesses or if someone complained you were tailgating or driving aggressively. I'm guessing they didn't want to bother with a trial and just dismissed it.

Lesson learned though. Reminder to be more careful and leave a bit more space when its crappy out.

This happened to a friend of mine in Edmonton. Car in front cut into a gap and had to slam on the brakes. He rear ended them and got a following too close. A dashcam would have saved him a lot of money.
