Anyone ever get a Following Too Close ticket?

I thought I'd update this.

Went to the courthouse to speak to the Prosecutor this morning, explained what happened and they withdrew my ticket.

Like others have said, an after-the-fact following too close ticket is tough to prove in court unless there is video evidence, witnesses or if someone complained you were tailgating or driving aggressively. I'm guessing they didn't want to bother with a trial and just dismissed it.

Lesson learned though. Reminder to be more careful and leave a bit more space when its crappy out.

Yes, I agree with this. Road rage or just bad driving - someone entering a road when it's unsafe because they misjudged it. But in general, I think if you're following a car and you hit it when it stops, you are following too close.

As for the dash cams - do they record the sound in your car? There's some swearing when I'm driving that doesn't need to be preserved. LOL. Otherwise, I have thought it might be a good idea to get one.

This happened to a friend of mine in Edmonton. Car in front cut into a gap and had to slam on the brakes. He rear ended them and got a following too close. A dashcam would have saved him a lot of money.
