I have to agree. And they also had a ton of luck and goalie was great.
GG is pretty much every other team's first star

smith's save percentage is coming back down to the league pack these last couple of games. still a winnable game even with poor goaltending, but the canucks got every single bounce and break tonight. it happens, but i wish it wouldn't keep happening against trash teams like the canucks. frustrating that they let the points slip away against a tired and bad team.
and i know i say this a lot, but there is a reason bartkowski was playing in the ahl into the middle of the season. this is a player who couldn't make the canucks. once again, he was a big part for 2 goals against and a constant tire fire. but i bet he gets into the roster again next game if hamonic isn't ready.

Not too unhappy with the loss. Thought we were the better team but got beat by a hot goaltender. Made many grade A saves.
Loved the puck movement on the PP. Whatever they did during practice is really working. They were able to get Johnny open for shots.
Versteeg had probably hos best game of the season. Created a lot of chances with puck and was unlucky to not get a goal.
Kulak got no support from the forwards when he pinched with the puck going the other way for the twins.

Good game for the most part. Way too much Bartkowski. Same could be said of Versteeg. On a night when the opposition's goaltender was making some big saves, we got the Coyotes Mike Smith. The Canucks were opportunistic, but Smith didn't really help out. Got caught out of position and was flailing a few too many times. Liked what I saw from Jagr and Jankowski. Bennett should be in the minors.

The canucks scored more goals. They did not play a better game.

That 2nd pairing were the whipping boys tonight - Brodie on the SHG and Stone with an unnecessary, bad penalty.

Good: Flames generating lots of chances on offence, especially the top line.
Bad: Still nothing to show from the bottom six forwards. Bennett needs a Big Mac Meal.
Ugly: Defensive lapses ending up in the back of the net -- Smith not able to come up with the timely save to bail them out.
Vancouver reminds me of Calgary circa 2014/15. No expectations, but they are finding ways to win thanks to an emerging 1C (Horvat), hot shot rookie on the wing (Boeser), secondary scoring from unlikely sources (Dorsett), and adequate to above average goaltending. Not sure if they can keep it up all year but stranger things have happened.

No problem with that from the Flames. Some blocked shots landed right on Canucks sticks twice or three times to have an empty net for goals. A bad pinch and no cover for the Sedin goal. Hardly any blame on Smith.
Jagr needs to get back in shape a bit more. Tough to supplant Ferland who looks ok again on the top line but zero chemistry with Bennett (though the Periodic Table would have problems with Bennett at this point) So Jagr needs to get back with Versteeg.

Well the 2 points going to the Canucks says otherwise in my books. The Flames played a good 40 but the Nucks found a way to win. I'd say that is a better game.

People have said how "unnoticeable" Hamonic has been but he really is one of the team's most important players on the defensive side of the game. They're gonna feel his absence for sure.

They had a lot of luck
But that doesn't excuse Gulutzan and his garbage system.
He is ruining a talented team

So, our bottom 6 has a combined 0 goals in 15 games.
Bennett is looking better with Jankowski, but they need a finisher, just to get them rolling, and it's not Versteeg, Lazar or Jagr.
Freddie Hamilton has cleared waivers, and there are currently 2 guys in the top 4 of the AHL scoring on Stocktons roster, who both have chemistry with Janko.

Brodie, Smith, Bartkowski were pretty detrimental to what should've been a good enough outing for a win (although seems normal for Bartkowski).
Lazy effort from Brodie on a preventable play was cringe worthy. It's not practice, TJ, their player is going to take it hard to your net. Skate man.
