Beer league lets you play when you're ready and when your hip is healed. You don't have to fly across the world to BFE South Korea with a buncha nobodies for 2 weeks either. I'm sure getting ran from behind by Igor from Crapmenistan in round robin sounds really appealing to a Hall of Famer.
Yeah for sure, a beer league game with a bunch of overweight middle agers is almost certainly more appealing than playing in the international spotlight with the Canadian jersey on. LOL

You got 2 Gold medals already and you were a pivotal force in 2002, and part of an ageless goal in 2010. You're already a legend.
Why would you then join a rag tag group of cast offs for an Olympics that will undoubtedly have an asterix beside it for some last grasp of glory (that you really don't need)?
I wouldn't do it if I were Jarome.
I kind of have to agree. Its an interesting set of circumstances, but if I were in his shoes I dont think I'd want any part of it.

If you thought this season would have a happy ending, you haven't been paying attention.

Lol fair. Also forgot it's in South Korea. No thanks haha
Exactly. My worry would be the psycho up North will decide that is moment to make history and launch his assault on the South. Obviously he already has shown he doesn't care about the repercussions of pissing off the world and he believes he is a God anyhow.
I’m looking forward to no professionals playing for Canada. This event will be the most important thing for the players playing for us, not a vacation from their real jobs.

What miracle? Unlike 1984 when the Soviets were able to send their best players to an amateur tournament all nations have the same restrictions this time around.
Miracle on Ice was 1980.
And as you say that scenario not going to be repeated this time around.

What are you talking about? With the exception of the Russian team who kept many of their best players at home, this will be a pro tournament played at the AHL level, if even that. I agree, the Luge will be more interesting.

on HNIC Friedman says Iginla will start skating in a week or two. Hockey Canada has extended an invitation to play in the Spengler Cup.
I’m hoping he settles in somewhere in the new year for sure. After the Spengler and potentially the Olympics he should be primed for one more kick at the can.
kinda weird he hasn't retired yet at this point. So he took like almost 7 months off at age 40 and just now is going to start training to get in shape to play?

I have a feeling he's not a guy that's ever going to let himself go. Probably the biggest thing for him is just making sure he's been skating regularly.

He had surgery in the off season.
