I saw Hamonic get beat in footraces for the puck in his own zone more than anyone else from mid 2nd period onwards.

In the 80's the Flames put together a team to fight the Oilers. This teams looks like it was out together to help McDavid win another Art Ross.

Well Badger Bob was an amazing coach, he knew how to rump up the intensity and make the Flames world beaters! GG doesn't seem to grasp this importance yet as we never seem to be prepared for these games.

Same reason they jack up their trucks and buy boats when there isn't much water around.

a) Can't believe our fourth line was on against their first line and McDavid got a goal. Granted Ferland was on the ice.
b) No change of strategy or tact by the coach all night.
c) Disagree with pulling the goaltender giving McDavid the Hat Trick based on the matchup tonight. Cringeworthy.
d) Mike Smith was awesome tonight, Tcachuk was present...
e) to many letters in the alphabet

I'm sorry, I know it's just the first game but wake up. Call a timeout and tell your people to go spoil the goddamn shutout. All in all, felt like a slap in the face from the team and coach with a tiny girl Connor McDavid cake as a reward prize.

These were great players

Not to mention the add of Hamilton, who is in the debate for the best u25 d-man in the league

Monahan is top 10 among u22 goal scorers in the post-lockout era
crosby, ovie, stamkos, seguin, skinner, toews, geno, kopitar, tavares ahead of him

there are some legitimately elite players on this roster and nobody looked like they even had the potential to contribute positively tonight

Gaudreau was bad. Last year, he was subpar. If this is his new normal, he looks like more Kristian Huselius than Patrick Kane. This is my concern about him, if the league has watched enough video to figure him out and he is going to plateau as a good Huselius, they need to evaluate what to do with this asset. He is a year remember bed from being a consistent impact player despite being paid as one.

I loved Smith's compete. A breath of fresh air, but the guy has only scored one goal in his career and can't be counted on for both a shutout and a game winner.

Gaudreau was fine last season and not worried after 1 game. Will get his 65+ points and be dynamite in OT.

The only message that sends is that we're not interested in winning because there's no way Kulak or Bartkowski helps us win more than Brodie.

You just have to hope he turns his play around. Benching our top players for messages would just be a childish overreaction.

Go easy on Gaudreau, there's a Giordano cap on this team. He's the one who's expected to lead the team here. I'd take Johnny over Gio 10/10 times at equal salary.
