You'd think with the Oilers sweeping the Flames last season that the Flames didn't beat the crap out of the Oilers for the past 10 seasons before that. I'd love nothing more then to have that smugness rubbed off their faces and a quick reality check. Everytime I hear/read ''the Flames are nothing, we swept them last season'' I cringe a little.

Hoping and praying with all my might that the Flames don't lay a goose egg for game 1.

I fully expect the Flames to get embarrassed by McDavid and co, being ready for the start of the season never seems to be a high priority for them

Love how on Sportsnet Mark Spector has the Oilers winning the Cup and the Flames to disappoint. We all know he is a clueless homer and that is fine but the fact that sometimes they publish articles he writes about the Flames, a team he obviously hates shows how Mickey Mouse that network is. Can't wait until the day they lose the NHL rights.

He was on another segment yesterday going on about how they were the best team in Canada and Canada's only shot for a cup lol. A victory tomorrow will be so sweet.

It isn't pretty. Last season opener win was 2009 Oct 1 vs Van
Last 10 years: 1-8-1

I knew it was ugly but that is atrocious.

Is it 10 or 11 years until that happens?!? Either way, much too long.

I think that we as a CP community need to start collecting money over the next 10 years so that we can put in a bid on the television rights, and then not televise Oiler games at all.

It is just mind boggling they employ an absolute fan boy of an NHL team. There is no objective look at other NHL teams, I don't think he even has a clue about any other team. This is like taking the biggest homer of one team from a hockey message board and offering him a job to write about hockey.

I don't get how anyone thinks that a one line team, with a 5 man thin blueline core is going to win anything except for a seat at the lotto table once again.

Maroon, McDavid and Draisaitl (you know the greatest center in the league not named McDavid)

Lucic RNH and Yamamoto is a mismatched line, I mean you have Lucic who's big and slow and RNH who's small and soft, and Yamamoto who's tiny.

Caggula Strome and Jokinen is laughably bad Jokinen has been declining forever, Strome is terrible Caggula is terrible.

Their forth line of Kahaira or whatever his name is Letestu and Kassian is slow and terrible.

Larson and Klefbom is ok, but whe's the offense?

Russell and Benning, that's a pretty poor second pair

Nurse Gryba, if you put two rocks on the ice, they'd probably have a higher IQ then these two

And its a given that Talbot will probably have to play 80 games this year.

I don't get why people look at this team with so much respect and awe, its a paper thin team with a lot of garbage which is stunning because they've drafted so high for so long.

I think people are over respecting that team, and in April there are going to be a ton of people with red faces muttering "I was wrong about the Oilers again".

They had a nice little run, but that run is coming to an end.

What's Terminal Todd going to do when he doesn't have all the career years that he had last year, and teams are actually playing McDavid hard pushing him along the boards, and he looks down the bench and realizes there's just nothing else.

And when T-Mac realizes that he'll do what he did in San Jose, lose control of the locker room and the bench, and the Oilers players will do what they always do and tune out their coach.

Every once in a while a person will take a crap and then look in the bowl and say "That's a nice piece of crap" and then pat themselves on the back and high five their buddies. That's the Oilers fanbase, they had a nice piece of crap last year, and they think that the same thing is going to happen this year.

I don't know anyone that hates the Oilers as much as I do, but this is a homer post.

Maroon is a serviceable guy to play with McSavior just like Ferland is playing with Johnny.
Yamamoto is tiny but so is Johnny. Caggula on their 3rd line is better than Brouwer on our 3rd line. Also their 4th line with Letestu, who can skate decent and is great at faceoffs, PK, and gets PP time, while anyone that has seen Kassian play, as dumb as he is and looks, he can skate pretty good and is far from being slow.

Do I hope the Oilers have a lotto seat? Hell yes, but let's not make things up about the greasers team because of the passion you have for our team.

Did you just compare Yamamoto to Johnny Hockey because both are small?

Also you said Brower is our 3rd line RW. Actually it is one of the greatest players to ever lace them up.
