I will be in row 2 on the goal line where Flames shoot twice. Going to wear my Tkachuk Jersey to this 1!

Why do they insist on playing Bartkowski? Something isn't adding up if they don't see the same thing 99% of people watching him see.

Bartowski wouldn't have to play if a young D man came up and stole his spot from him. But that hasn't conclusively happened so there he is.

Moreover, Bartowski is a par for the course 6th D man. Not many teams can boast such defensive depth that their bottom pairing isn't an occasional liability.

I am not singling you out, but I get the sense that people are making a mountain out of a mole hill.

The thing they're seeing is that amongst the left handed defensemen up for the job, he was a bit better than all of them, plus he has a fair amount of NHL experience.

We can argue about whether or not it's a good idea to give the job to a 20 year old Andersson with limited pro experience and on his wrong handed side in Gulutzan's system. He's earned the right to be considered over Bartkowski I think. But I think there are a lot of factors going into this decision, both short and long term.

If either of Kulak or Wotherspoon had looked halfway competent, we wouldn't be where we are now looking at Bartkowski on the opening night roster.

What an awful third pairing that is, hahaha. No shortage of pucks banged off the boards/glass to nobody in particular with those two.

This is going to be my 3rd Flames game ever as I recently moved from Australia to Vancouver! Pretty Psyched that I'm getting a look at something closer to the regular season line up. I know it doesn't count yet... but GFG!

What? No. You're thinking of Engelland. Bartkowski is arguably a decent puck mover and Stone is ok at it. Bartkowski's issues come from decision making and defensive zone awareness. Stone is as good a #5 defenseman as you'll find in the league.

Honestly, can anyone think of a better player that's stuck playing in the 5 slot? Nobody comes to mind.

Even with Bartkowski our bottom pairing is significantly upgraded over last season. Short memories for some people to call it ugly.

Pretty much an average 3rd pairing at worst.

I am less worried about the 6th d-man position and more worried GG catering to his vets over Jankowski. Player has earned his position on the opening night roster. This game would have been ideal to slot him in on that 3rd line or give him a chance on the wing. Hopefully Saturday night we see this. The motto is earned not given correct? Or something to that affect.

Last year at this time it was Grossmann in that spot. We've upgraded.

Yeah people definitely overreacting about the third pairing. Bartkowski's decision making can be..... questionable. But Stone is good in his role.

Definitely a far cry from a Chris Butler and Shane O'Brien pairing. Or the Jokipakka - Engelland pairing we saw just under a year ago. Or heaven forbid... Grossmann

Hoping the next two games have the same top 6 and top 4 guys but with vets playing for spots in one game and young guys in the next game.

See what team looks better.
