It's funny you mention this, but that was my concern yesterday when the buyout was mentioned. The beginning of the end for the Sutter team was the Kobasew/Ference for Primeau/Stuart trade. Killed team camaraderie.

Good luck Lance.

He was a warrior sacrificing himself, but just couldn't sustain that level of physical play.

This. It's nice to see Bouma land on his feet but even nicer to see the Hawks having to fill their roster with a Flames cast/off.

He's replacement level talent. Hathaway, F Hamilton got a spot over him. Pretty surprised he's a day one FA acquisition.

I loved Bouma's heart but real surprised as well he was able to get a contract within the first few hours. Wishing him the best and hope he find's a role with the Hawks.

I hope that Bouma kills it in Chicago. He's a solid NHL player and more than just a fourth liner.

Still no dollar figure for this contract? That's weird.

Wouldn't be surprised if it was for league minimum.

Hadn't read the warning which was probably posted at the same time I was typing mine up. By the time I went to edit it was too late. Oh well. Lance Bouma stinks and was overpaid.

That might just be a placeholder until terms are announced. They did the same thing with Glen Gulutzan's contract last year.

I believe he was the veteran guy out with Johnny and Monahan when they showed up late for practice after the Super Bowl. The Flames could do without that type of camaraderie.

per Capfriendly its a 1 year 1 way deal for $1 million

Interesting thing is that in the final year of his contract Bouma would have made $2.3 million from the Flames.

If you include how much the Flames buyout and what the Blackhawks are paying him, Bouma will earn $2.53 million for the next two years.

Net profit to Bouma: 233k for being bought out and the bonus of getting to play on a perennial playoff contender.

Sometimes the NHL contracts sure work out funny.
