I agree - I'm also thinking 1 year at $2.5M.

If they gave him the same term and money as what we gave Engelland, I'd be totally ok with it. That's a deep d core, and yet still cheaper than what we paid last year!

I'm not saying I want this to happen or even that I think this is happening but how would you feel adding Hamonic and Stone but losing Brodie and gaining a top line RW?
|
Gulutzan on the fan this morning said the plan is to have hamonic play with Brodie so unless there's a serious disconnect between he and treliving I can't see Brodie being dealt

I really thought Stone was pretty good for us. Physical around the net. It seems like the bloggers all hate him though

Flames are the new Nashville for enviable blue lines with good prospects stacked up the pipeline. If the defense is as good on the ice as it looks on paper in the fall then the team can look to deal from a position of strength with their d prospects to address their needs up front.

If they get this done today it could help sway a free agent winger to lean toward Calgary?
Stone as a number 5 is amazing and our Blueline would be elite. 3 27 year olds, a 34 and 24 year old with likely a younger guy rounding out the 6. Great situation

I'd be fine with a one year deal. Anything beyond that and the cap-hit would have to be quite small for me to be happy with the signing.

Wasn't sold on keeping him as a #4, but as a #5 that could move up if injuries hit, I'm in love with the idea

Presumably Treliving has learned you can't reward short hot streaks with big money. It took Bouma, Brouwer, and seeing what happened with Colborne to get there, but surely he won't overpay a player he clearly likes perhaps a bit too much at this point, right? Stone is a third pairing defenceman, pay him accordingly. Keep the salary structure in place. Don't take the excellent work of this week and sewer it with a crazy number for a declining depth defenceman.
Anything over $2.0 will be disappointing. (Disclosure: fully prepared to be disappointed)

2 years * $3.5M per will be my guess.
Nice thing about adding Hamonic is that it sets the bar on value for a guy like Stone.
