- Nordic style larping. (Yes, that's a thing.) It's really quite awesome (not what people think it is) and an experience you can't really get otherwise. Plus I think TONS of people would love it if they tried it.

- Big budget 360 larp based on something you love. (Harry Potter, Battlestar Galactica, Alien, Jane Austen, what ever is your thing.)

- Hard BDSM.

If you're a music fan, do NOT pass up shows you want to see thinking you will catch them the next time around. There won't always be a next time. I've finally made that a priority.

Explore North America. Traveling overseas is great, but Canada and the US have so much awesome. Go see it.

drink from the stanley cup!!!! (still can't believe i got to do that!)

playing in a band in front of close to 9,000 people - that's pretty awesome. the energy from the crowd was amazing!

something that i thought 'yea whatever' until i actually saw it was the grand canyon. my wife and i went to phoenix a few years ago and one of our day trips was to see the grand canyon. i figured we'd drive there, check it out for an hour then jet - boy was i wrong. i would have loved to spend a couple days there - it's just awesome

and a final one would be to get on the ice with current nhler's and get just a glimpse of their speed, size and skill (especially since i play goal). it's just unreal how good they are (even when they are dialing it waaaaay back). i've told the story on cp before of how blake comeau fired one at the goal from just inside the blue line (glove high). i reacted as fast as i could and i think my hand had barely moved and i heard the 'doink!' of the puck hitting the post. the puck ended up leaving our zone after hitting the post. when i went to get square in my net i noticed that the shot had knocked the one post back about 3" (the post had the little spike-peg in the bottom)

Get to know an animal on their level and terms. Speak their language, and understand their communication. It's really cool. I've known horses and dogs and a couple big horn sheep but just for an afternoon. It's a profound experience and changes your perspective.

Experience artistic creation. Your media could be anything but the process is the same. Time disappears and it's like your work is directed from a source other than your own hand. My favorite experiences as a writer were like that, no idea where the story was going and absolute surprise when it finished. That's the good stuff.

Go climb a rock. Nothing like the threat of a death fall to wake you up. It's also a fantastic excuse to safari the continent for a summer. I've been to Palm Springs many times and can find my way around but I know Joshua Tree intimately, boulder by boulder, route by route, hold by hold. It's a sport but also an expression.

Travel but know where and what home is. The thrill of traveling is seeing things once that you'll never see again. When you've found a home, seeing the same things over and over is just as thrilling. I see the same places in the mountains every year for the first time.

Fight for something. Maybe not the best bucket list entry but it's good to know your own boundaries.

Travel seems well covered here, so let's go with something you can do at home.

Learn to cook, bake fresh bread from scratch, brew your own beer, grow some veggies/garden. There's just something damn satisfying about eating/drinking something you didn't bring home from a store.

Oh and wear sunscreen.

Just to expand on this, I highly recommend festivals.

Go Mach 1.2 (this one may be hard to achieve but I got to do it twice and was the best ride of my life)

Jump out of an airplane at 10,000ft - just frikkin amazing!

Diving with sharks! I just want to do this more!

(FYI, the first two happened while I was in the forces - that just simply changed my life)

Crap. I made the National team to go to the Commonwealth Lifesaving Championships in Durban, South Africa. Now I need to talk the Head Coach into letting us have some time off to do the safari and shark swim....

I tried to see Death Valley National Park in about 3 hours last fall. Unfortunately, that was all the time I had but I barely scratched the surface. What an incredible place. Still haven't been to the Grand Canyon. Inlaws are retired in Arizona now so we will get there sooner rather than later.

Swim with dolphins.

I despise pools and water in general, but that was one of the coolest things I've ever done.

I want to go crab fishing on the Bearing sea with Sig Hansen and his crew. Friends think i'm nuts but it would be an amazing experience that would test your will and mental capacity to endure horrible conditions

Travel within our own great country. There are wonderful parts of this nation that many never experience. In particular I love the maritimes and encourage anyone to spend time there - including small out of the way towns.
I spent 2 weeks in PEI last summer and it was one of my favorite vacations ever.

For something in our own backyard, the Northern Lights can be really, really cool if you see them in a remote setting without the noise or lights of a city.

Even the stars on a clear night can be breathtaking. Mushrooms are optional.

Hard to explain, but working down in Mississippi years ago I had the chance to work on a 9-mile long lake in 100º+ weather. After a long, hard day, when you're in the back of a motorboat getting taken back to the dock - close your eyes. Feel the sun and the wind and the occasional light splash of water on your face. Forget everything and just experience it. Such a good feeling. Followed by a cold beer, a thunderstorm, and a cricket-filled evening...doesn't get much better.

Taking the family to see Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse Memorial and Devil's Tower next month. They've long been on my bucket list

Wow, you just took me back to my youth! On that note, shrooms are definitely a must do experience.
