I wonder if they bring in the tandem of Lombardi and Sutter instead...
Lombardi and Sutter are great for taking a rebuilding team to the next level. It's after they take those teams over the hump when mistakes are made. Sutter will also help with any issues of guys not trying hard enough that Eichel was eluding to,

Oh boy, well first I'd like to thank the hosts of the draft. The draft, I wasn't drafted until the 6th round, and that was 30 years go.. And then I asked Gelly if he'd ever been drafted and he was! In the first round, whoa!

Not unexpected. A bit surprising on Murray, but there were rumblings. Team just couldn't get it done, and actually looked worse than last year, which was inexcusable.
Murray made some decent moves, like the O'Reilly trade, but also some head scratchers (gave up too much for Kane, hasn't really brought in any effective D).
Be interesting to see who they bring in. I'd be happy with Dean and Darryl coming over, but we'll see.

Hard to feel sorry for the Sabres. They tanked pretty egregiously that season and they still ended up with a star player.

I am getting the feeling that Conroy will be Treliving's successor in Calgary whenever that may be.

Hire Lombardi and Kane's contract will be void after immediately being caught doing multiple illegal activities.
I don't think Sutter will stray that far away from his Alberta ranch.
If they go with Dejardins they'll make the conference finals next year.

Is the writing on the wall here and it's just a matter of an impending announcement? I thought the hiring of Burke to oversee hockey operations was to end the meddling and dog and pony stuff?

I think Burke is gone at the end of the year as well.

I just have a hard time believing that the owners would wait until after Darryl went insane before firing him, but would let Treliving go after just 3 seasons.

That's going to be so unacceptable if it actually happens

Surprising that both were let go - don't think giving a rebuilding GM only 3 years is ever that fair. (Looking at you the Flames ownership group)

Jeepers creepers people.
Sorry to pick on you, Flash, but I've read so many of these, yours is the one that was picked.
I would be shocked, surprised and gobsmacked if Burkie and Treliving are not back next year.
The team is trending in the right direction, and is getting better. There will not be a change for change sake, in my opinion.

The 960 guys broke the news to Rob Ray this morning .... he must have had a previously scheduled bit with them, because he had no idea the firings had happened. It was pretty funny listening to him talk as he scrambled to get in his car and get to the rink.

In your opinion as "not Ken King" correct?

I like Conroy, but putting him in the position of GM just seems like a huge disaster in the waiting. As long as the Flames retain Treliving, losing Conroy to another team would only be a minor loss.

That's a lot of Calgary connections in there:
Fenton played for us in 90/91
Drury played for us in 2002/03
Botterill off an on between 99 and 2002
Treliving currently
not to mention Conroy
