Still not 100% yet. Although the flames will know what they need to do by time the puck drops on Saturday.

Gillies was awesome. What a great first game. Got to show off some moves in front of his idol Jonathan Quick. Solid win and only one goal allowed, doesn't get much better for a debut.

Kind of projecting here but I envision the next step in Gillies development is to be full time #2 next year. Gives Gillies a chance to hone the most important aspect of NHL goaltenders, consistency at this level. A full season of back up, and you start tilting the starts more to him as the next 3 seasons go on.

I would go this route.

The Wideman goal was amazing!

Also, nice seeing Freddie score on a Gaudreau style wrap around and Gillies pick up a win.

I like Gillies! Also, like the energy from that fourth line tonight, keep lazar and hamilton another game at least. Johnny was flying, just couldn't finish. Bennett was great again and even got rewarded...finally!! They were all contributing which was nice to see after the game in Anaheim. Speaking of which, bring on the ###### bags!! When we can figure out how to win at the Honda Center, the cup is ours!

I was shocked listening to the guys in the afternoon yesterday on the Fan960 when they were talking about signing Elliott or Bishop for 6 years. I was shaking my head saying to myself what about Gillies and Parsons. We need to sign a #1 goalie for 3 years and slowly slide Gillies in and have Parsons as the backup.

Would save them some dollars too, allowing them to make an offseason addition or help extend someone like Versteeg/Stone.

If I am not mistaken, the savings would only be around 25k. Gillies elc is 975k and Johnson makes 1m Iirc.

Were there any shenanigans between Doughty and Tkachuk?

Not tonight.....I suspect Tkachuk was purposely not stirring the pot tonight. No point in doing so really.
