For whatever reason the Islanders have been a bad matchup for the Flames. This is one of those games I would pencil in as a loss regardless of the Flames record or how well they are playing.

Going to attempt to take my 5 month old daughter to this game. Wish me luck but more importantly the Flames need the win

Thanks a lot for doing these. I find it funny how a lot of Flames fans (me included) always default to labelling Backlund as the third line. Yes, they play the shutdown role which is generally the forte of the third line, but they have been generally more productive than the other lines, certainly more than the labelled second line. After the year that line has enjoyed, it's weird listing them as the 'third' line.
This also probably speaks to the balance in the lineup. Good to have!

Lol you attempt to correct an innocent mistake and I'm antagonistic? Notice how I said "lol", not sure how I was being antagonistic towards you, I simply found it funny you made an error in correcting a spelling mistake. And then you get antagonistic when someone jokingly points it out.

He made an honest mistake correcting something that I think he's pretty passionate about judging from his signature. He showed the humility as much in his reply to my post. All he is saying is that there is two was to point out a mistake and yours may have come off a bit antagonistic.. even how you answered his opinion kinda proved his point. We are all fans of the same team
after all, it's not like stang or wietz made the correction error

I'm fairness, that doesn't mean a ton considering you pencil in the flames to lose about 80 percent of their games.

Flames would be tied with Ducks in that scenario but ducks still have a game a hand after today's action. Flames can't move into third today.
Best case scenario for today is tied with ducks and if blues lose today(not likely to Colorado) could be a nice 9 points up on the playoff bar. That's a pretty large lead this late in season.

When people talk about this, they mean that a team's play will deteriorate for a while, and they are able to keep winning because of confidence.
It doesn't refer to one bad game.
Now if they play poorly again today, then we should start to be concerned.

Yeah I think it also goes the other way to, good teams wins some games that they don't play their best in, especially on winning streaks.

The only thing the Monahan line has over the 3M line is salary.
Goals, assists, points, plus/minus, defensive match ups and game winning goals all belong to that "third line".

In fairness you don't post here as much as you used to, so it's far easier to dismiss your negative posts towards posters that don't share your beliefs. Also if you look at my posting in GDT's this season you would be proven wrong but don't let that change your pettiness.

Never expecting a Flames win on a matinee even if they did win their last one.
Hoping for a good game. Last tickets from my share of seasons tonight. If you would've told me that we'd still be in a playoff spot I'd be quite happy so lets keep it going.

Flames are 2-8 in their last 10 VS the Islanders, lost 5 straight and 4 of those were 2-1 games including 2 in OT.
If the Flames score 3 today i like their chances, but its against a team they really struggle with.
