All these teams trying to dump players they think they'll lose to expansion makes me think some team should pick up a whole bunch of them. Like 4 or 5. Since the price is dirt cheap, pick up 4 and then lose one... at the end of the day you have 3 good players for next to nothing. As soon as the expansion draft is over, they go back to full value.
Edit: Also, haha, stupid oilers.

Chiarelli looked pretty uncomfortable trying to explain that trade.

Davidson was great last year for the Oilers, and missed most of the season this year to an injury, so naturally he had to be traded for a 30 year old 5 foot 7 3rd line centre...
Bold moves by Chiarelli once again. I have no idea how the Oilers value defenceman over there, overpay for Larsson, grossly overpay for Reinhart, overplay a bad Nurse, send bags of money to Nikitin, Ference and Fayne, dump Petry, Schultz and Davidson after mismanaging them to an extreme. Oilers gotta Oilers.

If the Oilers lose Reinhart to Vegas now, it would be icing on the cake. Not because he's any good, but because of what they gave up for him. E=NG

Remenda saying it was a shrewd pickup because Deharnais didn't get along with Therrein.

So instead of losing Davidson in June for nothing, they lose him now for nothing? And also lose something else in June. Brilliant.
Also, there are a lot of 24-26 year old decent-ish #4 d-men that will be available for Vegas. It's far from certain that he would have been selected.

McNugget desperately tries to pull the team out of the cesspool and everyone else in the organization keeps pulling in the opposite direction.

So there's this hunter, I think I'll call him Chia, and he's out in the woods doing the whole big game hunting thing. He see's a bush shake and he levels his rifle and puts a round through it. He then creeps up to see his kill when he feels a tap on the shoulder. He turns around and sees a gianourmous grizzly bear. The Grizzly looks at him and says
"I'm gonna give you a choice. I can kill you right now, or you can let me have my way with you"
Seeing no choice Chia loosens his pants and takes his punishment like a man.
After recovering for a week he decides he wants revenge so he buys a machine gun and goes big game hunting for the bear. He see's a bush rattling and he lets it have it. Like he sprays several hundred rounds into the bush. He smiles with satisfaction and creeps up on the bush to make sure the grizzly is dead. Suddenly he feels a tap on his shoulder and he turns around and its the same grizzly. The grizzly smiles gently at him and says.
"I'm gonna give you a choice, I can kill you right now or you can let me have my way with you"
Chia seeing no choice drops his pants and takes his medicine and wakes up in the hospital. After a month Chia decides to go big game hunting, he's going to find that bear and kill it. Its his White Whale.
So he buys a flame thrower and a few hand grenades and heads into the woods. He sees a bush shaking and he lets it have it. He hits it with the Flame thrower and tosses a few grenades in there. Satisfied that he's finally won, that he's killed that elusive bear he goes to inspect the corpse when he feels a tap on his shoulder. He turns around sobbing and sees the same bear grinning at him. The bear looks at him for a long second and says.
"You don't come out here for the hunting do you?"
Bear = NHL trades.
Chia = Chia
The woods = the NHL
The bush my friends is just a bush.

What a hilariously stupid move by Edmonton. I am not big on Davidson - though he has 'some' upside - but this is completely idiotic.
Chia-pet is worried about losing Davidson for nothing in the expansion draft... so better trade him for nothing!
Now he loses Davidson for next to nothing (DD probably could have been had for next to nothing), and will lose another player in the expansion draft.
Way to protect your assets! Who is next on the list of possibly being selected? Better move that player for next to nothing too!
Oilers are Oilers.

Um... No. MT loved DD.
Part of the reason Therrien was so awful was that he'd play his favourites, like DD, over guys like Galchenyuk who've earned more ice time.

DD is a good dude, but I'm very happy the Habs just got bigger. Julien tossed out a line of DD, Byron and Gallagher the other day, it looked like someone let their kids on the ice.

And this is why Remenda should never be taken seriously.
Amanda Stein @amandacstein
Desharnais says Therrien reached out to him after he was traded to Edmonton. "It means a lot to me." Therrien gave him a shot. #TSN690

Wouldn't part of Therien's firing be the result of trying to force Deshanais on the first line? Can't see DD saying "...no, i'm not good enough, put Galchenyuk there."
