See, the thing is we heard previously that there were 10 teams "in" on Vrbata... that's a lot of teams at the deadline and with that level of interest he won't be cheap. I mean if you're looking for a decent right-wing option for the top line if Ferland should falter... Vrbata would be expensive as merely an insurance piece on a team that's likely to be a low seed.
I think I'd rather focus on the next tier of rental as a Ferland back-up (Iginla, Parenteau, Hudler etc. etc.) that won't cost as much.

This may be his last shot at a playoff run. A good playoff run in the press box may be as beneficial as playing 3rd pairing minutes on the 2nd worst team in the league.

I would be all for this if it doesn't cost us a 1st rounder
I could see him doing very well with Johnny and Mony.

This guy can only play in Arizona, minus one good season in Vancouver.

Guys,
Die hard Coyotes fan here and I can assure you that Vrbata is good on one team and one team only = the Coyotes.
He had one good year with the Canucks because he played with the Sedins, that's it.

Hey Dennis, you have two options. Only one team will take you, so you can sit in the press box for the rest of the year, or go to sunny Arizona and play 21 more games with Shane Doan!

Yeah, he produced in his first two years in Colorado, His time in Chicago was decent. His PG doesn't seem to vary too much year to year, except in TB and Carolina (where he had really shorty seasons).

How could anyone want Chaisson on this team over Vrbata is Vrbata can be had for middling pick?
Do you guys really want Chaisson on the ice in OT of a game 7?

Brouwer has been very lackluster this year and has a very bad contract going forward. Flames have a tough cap crunch coming up and not much room for bad contracts on the team.
|
I am of the opinion that Brouwer is a much better player than he has shown this year, and will likely do better at earning his contract in the next two years.

I wouldn't mind Vrbata. Good player, pretty consistent point producer. I wonder if it would be just him for prospect or pick or part of a larger deal - maybe Chiasson out?

I would think you'd have to move out some salary.

I would really like to see Brouwer in the playoffs before we get rid of him. Could be a big mistake to trade him before then.
