Seeing all these people prefer to play Jokipakka to Wideman, really has me questioning the collective intelligence of the board. Jokipakka has been just as bad, if not worse while playing fewer minutes against lesser competition than Wideman.

Man, if only everyone was as smart as you However, if the board continues to make you question, you are going to delete your account right... probably not worth it to stay?

Agree with your Joki assessment but I think questioning the inttelect of the people here is a bit extreme.

Jokipakka is rotating in the pairings which suggests that Bartkowski plays on Saturday vs. the Canucks, his old team.

Jokipakka extra.

If it holds up this is probably the most optimal line-up the Flames have put up all season... please please please don't be unlucky on Saturday.

Forwards, yes, but that bottom D pairing really has me concerned. And of course, if our goalie actually plays the way he can.

Agree 100% with taking Chiasson out of the line-up. It is too bad that it took Gully 60 games to figure out what most fans and season ticket holders have known for at least 40 games. Chiasson really hurt the Gaudreau, Bennett line when he was on it and should never have played one game above the 4th line. Hathaway and Bouma much better even on line 4. Finally after 60 games Widedog is demoted to 3rd pairing, but should never play another game for Calgary. F. Hamilton and Chiasson should be sent down to farm and Jankowski brought up. He could alternate with Stajan on line 4 or play center on Bennett line.

It would only be a cap dump from the trade deadline onward. The Flames would take a guy that has an NMC/NTC or whatever from a team that would otherwise have to expose someone they don't want to (Fleury situation in Pittsburgh, for example). Wideman wouldn't be a core piece of the deal, most likely, just a side benefit of helping another team out of an expansion bind.
Don't think it is likely to happen, though.

^^ Not sure if I would make all of those changes, but I do agree that GG has been far too slow to make adjustments that are seemingly obvious.
Even if they make the playoffs, that stubbornness (starting Grossmann at all was a huge red flag) and failure to have the team ready to start the season are enough to sink him, in my books

Rather telling the Flames can sign a guy who was on an AHL contract and he immediately steps into the starting lineup. And it's not due to injuries.
My fingers are crossed.

Do you think he started Grossman because he thought highly of him or because the GM just signed him and may have suggested he play? Not defending Glue Gun, I don't think he's a great coach but maybe his hand was forced.

Superior? You're the only one who seems to like Jokipakka. Because of of his name for some strange reason.

That awful player might have single-handedly cost the Flames a couple of games. He was hurting the team and I guess I don't care if anything was suggested from above. Using him was stupid.

Yes. He coached the player before. Treliving did it for the additional cap space (which wasn't used anyway)

When has it not? Wideman not in the top 4 automatically makes it the best alignment we've had this far.

Jokipaaka, Wotherspoon, and Kulak all better than Wideman now and with another 20 games under their belt much better. This is the best lineup this year, because Wideman on the 3rd line, and Chiasson not playing. Only question mark is Hamilton (much prefer Hathaway), and would prefer Kulak in lineup to Wideman. Agree with trying new guy, but sorry we had to sacrifice Kulak to minors. Our coaches do not have the intestinal fortitude to bench Wideman no matter how many mistakes he makes.

I don't respect stupidity, that will never change and the way a large portion of this board reacts to Wideman, is very stupid. Generally the reaction to any whipping boy is absolute stupidity.
