But what about stability? What about Therrien not having earned a firing (division leader)?

Congrats to the Habs for having the balls to conduct business. Pay attention nice guy Flames.

Guessing Price had a hand in this...Therrien hated his good friend Subban, and I think the feelings were mutual

People will post this but they are missing the main point.

Montreal is a team that has had Theirren as coach for 4 1/2 seasons now.

The Flames hired GG 57 games ago.

There is your difference.

Pierre LeBrun @Real_ESPNLeBrun
Habs asked Bruins on Sunday for permission to speak with Claude Julien, according to source

What the ####? Why would the Bruins allow them to? How stupid is Sweeney?

If Julien is making the same money in Montreal as he is in Boston (which I doubt), the Canadiens will be paying 4.5 million dollars a year for head coaches.

I'm pretty sure Gulutzan makes in the 800 - 1 mil range by comparison.

Wow, can't believe I actually got this right. Canadiens did the smart thing without a doubt, Therrien is no good.

I bet it has something to do with not wanting to pay him millions of dollars to stay at home and watch soap operas.

And honestly, why wouldn't Boston grant permission? Are they worried the coach they just fired is so good he's going to turn Montreal into contenders? Whether true or not, considering they fired him they probably don't think much of him.

And when the Habs, with Julien, beat the Bruins in the playoffs, as usual, Sweeney will be fired and the circle of life will be complete.

Because it's a classy thing to do for a guy who coached there for a decade. Why would they prevent him from getting another job? Not giving him permission would be bush league and a slap in the face to Julien.

Why wouldn't they, I don't see this as a stupid move. Julien put in his time and brought a cup back to Boston, they may have just wanted to let him stay in the game as a good will gesture. Its more of a classy move over anything.

Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC
Sounds like there were multiple teams asking for permission on Julien. MON decided to move fast.

Therrien has now been fired and by replaced Julien twice ...in just Montreal. I guess Guy Carbonneau is on deck.

This list will be interesting, if it ever emerges.

Eh, maybe I'm too much of a cynic.

Well, at least there won't be this hope for us fans to replace Gulutzan any longer.

Wait.. Gallant is still out of work, right? (and yes, I am joking).
