I'm not saying fans should flip out when Johnson lets in a softie and want to run him out of town because overall he's played well this season. But if he lets in a goal that Elliott was crucified for say it was a bad goal too and move on rather than try and make excuses for him. That IS being biased.

Johnson's been steadier. Elliott often looks like he has trouble tracking the puck before it hits him, and he often looks like he has no idea where it is after that.
I guess I don't read too much into fan criticism of one goal or another - fans bitch about everything. Ultimately, I can only go with what the players have displayed on the ice. Brian Elliott's season so far doesn't crack the top-30 at his position, and he plays a position that only has 60 big-league jobs. Without four victories against two teams who have fewer wins than Chad does on his own, Brian Elliott is on waivers.
4-10-1, 3.26, .881 sv%, 0 Shutouts. Take Elliott's name out of it for a moment. You have a soon-to-be 32 year old pending UFA goalie who hasn't started 50 games since Barack Obama's first term, having a godawful contract year. What reason is there to keep that player on the NHL roster? Rittich or Gillies could do that. I'm willing to bet they could do better.
The saving grace to all of this is at least we know Elliott isn't the answer.
