Kijiji is good this time of year because people put their unwanted Christmas presents up for cheap. Just got a Cineplex $50 gift card for $30 off a university student.

The good stuff tends to go up tomorrow though since a lot of people are still doing the family thing all day..

Weird, I remember seeing it in store on Friday. I'm going to check it out again tomorrow morning. How much did you pay for the TV from Best Buy? Did you pay for the extended warranty?

I didn't get the warranty, my CC doubles the manufacturers warranty free of charge. Total cost with tax, environment fee and the delivery (will take old TV off wall and mount new one, move old one to store somewhere in house) was $902

I am sure I will get bashed on here but Superstore for Tv's!

55 inch RCA 4k UHD for $368, 65 inch RCA 4k UHD for $649. I am an LG or Samsung guy myself, I know RCA is a lower brand. Never the less at those prices.
Bought a 50" LG plasma from Superstore 4 years ago for $474 tax and enviromental fees included. Still running strong today, and have never seen a lower price on that tv ever.

RCA use to be a good brand, than again I remember a time where Samsung was considered garbage by repairmen.

Never the less for those on a budget this might be a good option especially when people here are talking about extended warranty on a tv costing more than the cost of a 55" tv at superstore.

Not trying to tell people what to buy, definately not promoting RCA or Superstore for that matter. I just have never seen prices so low for tv's of that size. If you just need a tv, not some smart tv curved screen etc etc etc this could be a great low cost option for those on a budget.

I've heard RCA is a bit of an "avoid at all costs" brand these days.

Man I hate posts like this. Leading tv makers in my mind are LG and Samsung! Why cause that's what I hear. Does it make it true?

Jayswin, not saying you are wrong at all. Yet at least back it up with some comments on people who own this tv.

Let me go one step further, PC people get so uptight around here.

You just labeled a manufacturer "avoid at all costs". Cause you heard they were not good!

I heard all Muslims were not good the other day too! All Jews are awful, and Catholics want to rule the world!

Can you please add to why RCA tvs are not good? I don't care what you have heard, just facts.

I am an ass I know this. I apologize right now, but if you could please share info that would be great!

Why is RCA so bad?

Just general google search on RCA shows that feedback says that while most enjoy the picture they have significant problems even a few years in. I suppose if it comes with a 3 year warranty (doubt) that may mitigate, plus if you buy on some credit cards they will put an extra year on for free.

I would say that RCA is what it is. The race to the bottom on set pricing has left only a few reliable manufacturers. Vendors such as RCA most likely have sold their name to a cheap Chinese company who manufacturers the same set under other names. RCA really doesn't have any meaning anymore, they most likely don't get involved past licensing their name.

So I would say buy the set if expectations on the life and reliability are low. You may hot a home run, but it may also die on you in a few years. I wouldn't shy away because of that, I had a higher end Toshiba from 2008 die in 2011. Nothing is certain these days.

I bought the 55 RCA on Black Friday and you get what you pay for. Picture is great but it does have significant light bleeding that has gotten a bit better but is still there. If you are a purist you're not going to like it. But if you just want a big tv then it's a great deal.

When I was chatting to guy at visions he said 3/4 of the RCA and their sister brand 50" plus tvs come back as returns because of the light bleeding

I hate blanket brand statements as much as the next person. Apple, Rossignol, Ford, Chevy, Samsung, K2, whoever. Most companies are capable of making both amazing or crap products.

However are you actually defending RCA? A company who's sold its name like Airwalk and Simms?

A company who is sold almost exclusively in Canadian Tire (a well known high-end electronics distributor), and has never been featured in Sound & Music magazine's annual television shootout?

I just checked consumer reports. RCA was tied for 19th out of 24 brands for reliability. This was based on a survey of 165,000 TV owners. Lower ranked brands were TCL, Vizio, Westinghouse, and Sceptre.

Out of the top 20 highest rated TV's that were 55" or larger, 19 were Samsung or LG. The other model was a Sony.

Couldn't find anything on consumer reports about jews or muslims though.

I am looking to get a TV in the 50-55 inch range as well, I know nothing about TV's though. 4K means it has gold in it?

What are peoples thoughts on this one:
