I'm not desperate for him to get in, but I'm really curious what this organization is doing, or plans to do, with Wotherspoon.

I feel a little bad for Elliott.
He deserves a start after Johnson looked human against Tampa. His only goal against was pretty lucky, and he looked pretty good after that.

How was it lucky? He gave up a huge rebound and Tampa scored.
He will most definitely get a start next week likely against the Sharks

I think he has little to no future here. He was on waivers earlier and went unclaimed. If the Flames are going to have a 7th D it is better it be a guy they do not have much hope for in the future and let Kulak play big minutes down on the farm with hopes he becomes a future top 4 D in the NHL.

He deserves a start, but by putting him in for the third it was fairly obvious they were perservign Johnson for the next start and Elliott will get one later.
I think he does need a few starts to get back to a regular tandem. I didn't like his rebound but if Versteeg covers his man it's not an issue, and he was solid the rest of the way. The Flames played better in front of him than Johnson (for a change).

Was at the game against Tampa on Wednesday, and feel like tonight will give us a good hint as to whether or not the Flames are going to be able to push for the playoffs. They started off awful this season and then slowly improved until stringing together 6 wins before sliding back into poor form against Tampa. If the Flames are going to be contenders they need to put day light between them and the other teams currently in the wildcard hunt. A resilient, character win against against the Blue Jackets would say a lot about what's to come.
I believe the good guys can do it.
6-2 Flames to show that they mean it!
Go Flames Go!

I like that Johnson is starting again. I don't really believe in the play until you lose approach. Your starter should play the majority of the games, and be given a chance to rebound from a loss.
Although Elliott was considered the starter coming into the season, I would argue his career numbers are no better than Johnson's, while playing on a superior team. Since being here. Johnson just looks much better.

Well I wasn't suggesting audacity always works out, just that it is the way to go about being a Flames fan in Edmonton and its surroundings.

Don't like that Hathaway is out again. I guess the coach feels since they lost last game with the same line-up he is going to get different results...........right?

I think it's more of a "give that lineup a second chance after a long layoff" mentality. The whole team looked out of sync.
Plus Bouma played well and he is also the veteran. If he sucks this game, for sure replace him with Hathaway.

The last time we played Columbus (Nov 23, Flames win 2-0) was the game that showed they could compete with the best in the league. Our PK shut down their vaunted PP, and Chad was perfect between the pipes.
Hoping for a 2-1 Gulutzan special tonight -- served up by #31.

I think Hathaway & Wotherspoon sit because Bouma & Wideman are being showcased.

I don't think this is something that actually happens often, and certainly not for teams in the thick of a playoff race. The Flames coaches are icing what they believe to be the best lineup to ensure a victory.

I don't know if i would call Bouma a vet. He has spent a couple years on the Flames but he is still young. I think Hathaway is a more effective player physically but Bouma is a little better on defense (Probably a better shot too). Bouma needs to start mucking it up a little more but he hasn't been bad (tough when your coming back from injury). We could sit Chaisson.
