Had to laugh at Frolik. Breaks his stick, you could see him looking at the bench wondering wtf he's supposed to do. Almost looked like he was trying to trade a stick back and forth before he finally skated off.
I've watched a lot of hockey in my day and I can't say I've ever seen that before. I'd be just as confused as he was.

Monahan had a decent game. Versteeg looked good. Ferland was amazing. Elliott was solid, OT goal was stoppable but other than that I liked his game.
3-2-1 on the road trip isn't ideal but it could have been worse.
|
Proves that no doubt about this team is turning a corner. We should come back and play like that at home now, if we do we'll dig ourselves out of the early hole.

Well except he skated around like an idiot for 30s while NY dominated the puck. He should have gone straight for the bench the second his stick broke.
Or committed and played rover and gone hard after the puck carrier anywhere on the ice and used his body to free the man from the puck.
He was literally as useful as a pylon out there for that whole shift.

Elliott had a great game.

I agree, but like Hamilton he could have a great game and his detractors will take his one mistake and spin it into him having a bad game. Elliott didn't have a bad game. If he did, someone has to show me when 2GA and .923 sv% became bad.
Bottom line is they have to score more than one goal.

I'm not sure if there's a position for that, other than cover low near the post on the shot. There was no need for him to hug the post unless there's a rebound to that angle at the side, and there wasn't any time to shift that way for a tip. He tried to compensate when the tip came in, but it trickled through.

That's an awful goal to give up. Even if Elliott was tracking the puck, he should have seen it going wide and hugged his post.
He seems to give up a muffin every single game. 3-8-1 is an atrocious record for any goalie, and for a 2-time All-Star... something isn't right.

You guys are making fun of Oilers fan... thats funny. This team is bad, thats how it is, face the facts. Monahan is like Hall, doesn't care.
Ps: I'm pissed I stayed awake for this ####.

The team does not look dangerous at all offensively. Won't win many games scoring 1 or 2 per game. They were lucky to grind out some points on the road trip but its not convincing hockey.
And as others have stated its utterly boring. This is some of the least entertaining Flames hockey I've ever seen.

Flames came out ok on the trip. 2 very good games, 2 stinkers, 2 mediocre. 3-2-1 is fine. Could have quite easily gone 2-4. Something to build on, some improvement overall, but a lot of the same problems continue too.

They should've been better today than they were, after yesterday. Came out with very little energy, took a lot of penalties, lucked out on the Isles not having a lot of finish. Elliott okay until that OT.
Maybe a little bit more grouchy about just a point than I should be.
At least Monahan scored a good, non-fluke goal.

This is a horribly misinformed post.
Monahan isn't like Hall at all. He doesn't care? Oh, is that why he seemed super relieved after scoring his clutch goal in the third?
Yeah, we know this team is bad. But it has a ton of potential.

Disappointed in the Captain for running the clock down at the end of regulation. That was bush league.

Meh
Happy to get a point but that was one of the worst overtime efforts I've ever seen. First the try too much on the blue line fail by gio and then the most uncoordinated effort possible between hamilton/back line/frolik breaking out and then just a complete disaster in the other end
Not gonna be too upset with the goal I guess, what are you gonna do with 2v3 and John tavares but oh my god

Gotta say I agree with the muffin goal statement completely.... Which is another reminder of Hiller to go along with the number and pads. Hauntingly similar but glove hand ruins it.
