Ahhhh competent goaltending. Nice to have a reliable starter, even if it's not the one that was specifically acquired to be the starter. Johnson = win.

Johnson is clearly the MVP tonight. Held them in it during a crappy first period until they finally woke up in the 2nd.

PK was perfect against the #1 PP in the league. Can't ask for better than that. PP still sucks despite Ferland's goal. But still, it was great to finally see one go in with the extra man.

Another tough game coming up on Friday. Hopefully they can put another one in the win column and get a streak going.

Yeah I wonder if the Leafs regret signing Andersen to that length of deal before at least trying him out on a shorter term deal. He has been below average for the Leafs and not an upgrade over the goaltending they got last season. Like Elliott he looks a little out of sorts playing for a team that lacks the defensive structure of his previous team.

One of the few for sure. The last game against Chicago they won the special teams battle too, but the refs happened. I hold on to things.

Yeah I'm glad the Flames avoided that one.
I'm also happy that Calgary isn't rushing into signing Elliott. At this point it seems like Johnson might be the guy to ink.
But it appears the Leafs may be pulling a Turek when it comes to Andersen

Aren't there a big crop of high profile UFA goaltenders coming onto the market this summer?

A little too early to write off Elliott but if he ends up not being a fit I imagine the Flames will focus their attention back to Fleury or Bishop while signing Johnson to something in the line of a 2/3 year deal to be the backup.

And don't forget they have Ramo hovering around there too. They could go full Hartley.

Potentially and you also have the expansion factor.
Could be a good year to get one. But you may have to over-commit.
For instance someone is probably going to overpay Big Ben Bishop.

No props for Wideman keeping that puck in on Ferland's goal? Without that it looks like an odd man rush the other way for the BJs on the PK.

I am liking Ferland's game lately, he has been doing the little things right.

Has anyone noticed that our D flop completely down on the ice a lot more now when the puck is down low to block passes across the crease? Seemed very affective tonight.

Johnson is the #1. He has a winning record on a losing team. He has outplayed Elliott by a wide margin and I don't think it is even close. Elliott makes me nervous and at this point in the season that shouldn't be the case.

Great team game tonight by the flames, crappy first, but they played well in all three zones. Monahan is still invisible. Didn't seem to do much out there tonight for his line. I understand that we are all frustrated but imagine how he feels?

Great game by Johnson. Tough for Elliott but CJ`s stealing the starting role at this point.

Solid road game overall and great to finally get a PP goal.

Chicago had 1 PP goal and the Flames had none.
