I can't believe they signed a 32 year old support forward to that contract. that would be an iffy contract even for a contending team or even a team on the upswing. But a declining team about to head into a painful rebuild? Yeesh.

The directive from Canucks ownership has consistently been: No rebuild.

When the Sedins retire in a couple of years they won't be anywhere close to salary cap ceiling anyway. So the Eriksson contract is probably not going to be a big issue long term. I can see the eventual rebuild lasting at least 5 years before they have a chance to be any good, by that time the Eriksson contract will be over. It must be a terrible feeling to be a Canucks fan right now.

I forgot the Caps were playing tonight. It's nice to have them on the tail end of a back-to-back.

Watching this after hours is painful to watch how much SN or CBC is screwing up. It's like they haven't been doing broadcasts for several decades. Unbelievable. First they show an old video of Gudbranson and the sound and video aren't synced. That is after a long delay after Scott Oake was waiting for the video to play. Then later on they were supposed to show another video and after a long pause Scott Oake talks directly to the video guys and they don't have the video they were supposed to play. Crazy how unorganized SN always is. So unprofessional. I think AC could do a way better job running their videos.

And Carey Price is just so damn good. Honestly as a goalie he's very dominant, he just makes every save look so easy and never seems to be out of position.
Member when Canadien fans were booing him wanting Halak to play and wanted Price traded instead?

That is correct. The crew was Dave Randorf with Cassie Campbell-Pascal along with Louis Debrusk and Scott Oake.

The other Pacific time zone game had the Sharks defeat the Predators 4-1. Pavelski with two points. Nashville is looking rough early in the season. Rinne is 1-4-1 and the defense is unsatisfactory.

Bourque with his first of the season in Colorado. A powerplay goal with Bourque battling in front of the net.
Yes, Bourque, powerplay, battle all appear in the same sentence.

Dubnyk is doing that voodoo magic from 2 seasons ago. No matter what, it's amazing what he's doing. In the 2nd period the Stars were using him as a shooting gallery because Dallas outshot the Wild 13-1. Next game for the Wild is Tuesday against the Sabres.
"Dubnyk recorded his third consecutive shutout on Saturday, powering the Wild to a 4-0 win over the Dallas Stars. In the process, Dubnyk set team and personal records for the longest streak without allowing a goal, stopping 29 Dallas shots as the Wild (6-2-1) stayed unbeaten at home."
"Dubnyk didn't have to make any spectacular saves in establishing a new personal best scoreless stretch of 180 minutes. He's stopped 94 straight shots. The last goal he allowed was in overtime last Saturday."

I wonder how long until Nashville fans are piling on Rinne, he really looks done.
