start Johnson. He played awesome on Saturday.
Needs to be a Meritocracy.
Always earned, never given.

Was wondering if Brian Elliott is not 100% healthy....
Seems weird he had an maintenance day already.

Think Johnson would get the start against the Sabres either way, but Elliot not even practicing is odd. Must be something bugging him

This is what I am thinking. It goes a long way to explaining why he looked so uncharacteristically bad in his first two games. I like the fact that Johnson provides a solid option while Elliott works things out in the beginning of the season. The biggest problem last year was the fact that when one of the goalies was off, no one else stepped up. By the time Ramo rounded into forming a semblance of a NHL goalie it was too late.

Elliot playing below his level - theory...
Didn't he just have a kid like a week or so ago? Maybe he is having a tough time adjusting? Could be as simple as that

Flames capitalizing on goalie needs (LA) Johnston is the guy the Flames realize. 1st and Toffoli for Wideman and Elliott.

Was going to mention this. "Maintenance day" might just be attending to his newborn child.
Hope it's not too distracting for him. We do need him to get his head in the game and get back in form.

Must've happened recently because he had a stellar preseason.

I like Roger Millions. Glad he's prepared to ask uncomfortable questions.

After my kids were born I was totally trashed for weeks due to lack of sleep. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it's an issue.

I don't see how a newborn waking up every three hours (if lucky) could possibly effect someone's ability to stop a piece of rubber travelling at 90+ mph. Seems pretty farfetched to me
As a first time parent, I was pretty much the same as edslunch. Not pretty.

Especially when your wife makes you wake up with her for the feedings all through the night just because she wants you to be miserable as well.
I'm assuming Elliott's wife is kinder though

I'll always have a soft spot for Roger, cause he willingly brought a number of CPer's in and interviewed us and pretended that our hockey opinions were not tripe.

Ugh, this is the obvious decision.
Play the guy against his old team, give the Starter the Canes game to get back into the swing of things before the road trip.
Such a non-story.

Sounds like Elliott may need a good long road trip...so he can get some rest!

The think the fact that Elliott was not practising today is actually a potentially meaningful story.
