$6.75 is absolutely insane AAV. Shame about the 6 years but hopefully he's be injured in his contract year thus lowering the next contract value... ;-)

Happy Thanksgiving indeed! So happy to have Johnny back in the fold at a reasonable cap hit. Hopefully this shuts up everyone talking about greed on both sides. Don't know why it couldn't have been done sooner but I'm just happy it's done!

Anyone calling this to be his last contract with Calgary is jumping the gun. 6 or 8, the likelihood of it being the last was the same. 6 years is an eternity in hockey terms, who knows where both the Flames or JG will be when this ends. 0 need for disappointment or trying to read anything into it, just be happy he's locked in at a great AAV for the foreseeable future.
