Maybe. Think the Blues could miss the playoffs with everyone gone from this past spring?

Hmm Baertschi and Granlund combine for 3 pts on the night. Granlund with the game winner. Hope this is just preseason stuff.

Pains me to say but today's Sven is a lot better than the Flames Sven.

Granlund will look good for 10 games or so, then completely drift off. That's what we usually see from him.

Whether Granlund will disappear after a while, or Baertschi is being gifted icetime he didn't earn, will be revealed in time, but IMO both looked better in the preseason than any Flames prospect vying for the spot on the line with Johnny & Monahan.

I really wish neither guy had gone to a rival.

It's weird, I barely even see Vancouver as a rival at the moment, they are just so irrelevant. Yet Edmonton can be terrible for a decade and I still hate them with the power of a thousand suns. Probably all the lottery BS.

I dislike Vancouver much more than Edmonton. I honestly can't think of a player on their roster I really dislike like I do on Vancouver. If it wasn't for the whole geographical rival thing, I'd be pretty indifferent towards them. Maybe Lucic will change that.

I was that way when they were good a few years ago, they used to be Nelson to my Bart.

Now it's like Nelson was diagnosed with cancer. I just can't summon the same level of hate.

Byron has 4 or 5 points for the Canadians in preseason action.

Granlund is like the Jamie Landmark of the modern era...with a Dustin Boyd following it seems.

It's sad how much stock people put into pre-season performances.

We're learning a new system people, you expect the players to be giving 110% in games when they are just trying to play within a new system and not make mistakes?

Granlund is fighting for a spot and trying to prove himself. He was absolutely terrible last season and is looking for redemption playing against crap PTO's and vets who aren't trying to win at all costs.

Baertschi is getting all the offensive ice time to produce. Honestly he looks like a 1-trick pony with his spin-o-rama passes, but he'll be getting top-6 minutes this season and probably produce .5 ppg.

Our 2nd line is looking a hell of a lot better than whatever line Baertschi will be on. And Baertschi pretty much refused to play RW because he sucks so much at it, so I'm not sure where he would go on our line-up. Shutdown line with Backlund? Good joke.

While I certainly don't like Vancouver, most of the players I really couldn't stand are gone now. I still despise Burrows but he sucks now so he's easier to ignore. The oilers though....I instantly abhor anyone who puts on that dog-ugly jersey the second it goes over their head. It's almost irrational how much I hate that team but I really, REALLY can't stand them.

So, change of subject - are there any PTO players in other teams who've done well, but probably won't get signed, that the Flames should look at (over say Hamilton, Higgins and Grossman)?

Have heard both Devin Setoguchi and Rene Bourque are both doing well and might actually have a chance to survive their PTOs and make their teams with the LA Kings and Colorado Avalanche.
