Hunter Smith was a waste of a pick. More time isn't going to make him faster. He's waaaaaay too slow.

Skating is 100% one of the things you can work on through time. Don't know if Smith wasn't a waste, don't know if he'll ever correct it, but crazy thing to post.

Even if he was faster I don't like his game at all. I've watched him quite a bit now and he has never impressed me.

Maybe if he was a late round pick but to use a second rounder on him puzzles me.

love how calm Johnson looks - no silly flopping around

So excited for the goaltending this year

Yes and no. If you dont have a good or decent stride by now. Very few players improve on it. Always hear they can improve....they rarely do.

Skating can be improved, but it seems like the majority of the 6'6+ guys never figure it out. There is a limit for most of those guys.

But Smith actually had some offensive skills in junior.

Not much of anything to take away from that first period. Not a lot of skill out there from either club.

Is 21 Korpikoski?

Really?

Leon Draisatle looked like he was skating in a poopy diaper his first season. Last year they cleaned his butt, spattered on the powder and sent him out in a fresh nappy and his skating was much improved.

Dunno, that was the first example that came to me.

Burke... so many wasted picks with the leafs with the same type of player.

Really wish they would have taken Montour who went the very next pick.

Continue to work on his skating, skills, and leg strength. Probably focus more on that than the tough guy part. Doesn't seem to be a good fighter. When you are that tall you should use your reach and strength and not try to go toe to toe.

Like i said for every one player there are at least 10 who fail at it.

Sweet. Perfect timing. Stuffed the munchkins with quick dinner over intermission and back for the 2nd period.

News to me. His 19YO season is more Brian McGrattan than a guy with offensive skills.
